Intellectual property from the U.S. shouldn't be going to communist countries AT ALL, but if it is, there better be a good reason for it, and IMO if it is allowed at all it should be heavily tariffed, like 10x the normal cost.
Allowing communist countries like China to get FREE software, with no charge or tariff AT ALL is absurd. All they'll do is exactly what we're already seeing, they'll make free legal copies, rename them "Red Flag", then pass laws requiring all their government computers use some version of it.
Do you deny that Red Flag is a free copy of Red Hat, which is made in the US? Do you deny the Chinese goverment standard software is this copy called "Red Flag", and that they have provisions requiring open source on all their government computers? You will probably try to deny, but you know this is true.
The real question is, how can you stand here and ask us if we want ANY technology transfers to China, when you so openly support FREE technology for China through open source?
Red Hat didn't write Linux. You also don't realize that Red Flag is no longer directly based on Red Hat, but is based on Asianux, which is based on Red Hat and partially run by Oracle, an American company, which has collaborated with Red Hat and Novell on various enhancements to Linux. Wow, full circle almost.
