It's easy to take photos of price gouging stations. When you buy stock in the stock market and eventually sell it at a profit, aren't you "price gouging?"
Exactly what do you think the free market is all about?
Countries that attempt to control prices are ALWAYS economic disasters with stores with cheap prices but empty shelves.
Would you rather have no gas at a really cheap price, or enough gas to conduct your business at whatever price the market dictates at the time and place you need it?

Not according to the President of the United States. He wants people to report price gouging. I suggest we bury the FTC with email complaints. Doing so is our duty as citizens and patriots.

While I don't disagree with what you have pointed out, don't you think there is a tipping point beyond which we have serious economic problems simply due to the cost?

Yep. Sad how few understand this, as they beg and/or demand that the gov't "do something" about "price gouging". In a free market, these sorts of issues take care of themselves.

You are quite correct. I am only sorry it took until your post - number 10 - for someone to give us all an economics lesson.
The only solution to high prices in a scarcity situation is - high prices.

Hydrocarbons are simply not comparable to stocks. Hydrocarbon fuels are a controlled commodity combining limited and quasi-monopolistic capacities for acquisition, refining, and distribution. The free market plays a limited role in the sense that producers can force non-use of the product (over a very long term) by over-pricing it, but the capacity for short-term "gouging" (taking advantage of product-need without regard to production cost) remains a problem in any controlled commodity market.

Oh, stop it with your free market crap!
What are anti-trust laws about?
These companies are screwing the American people and destabilizing the economy simply because they CAN.

Great comment. Too bad so few (even here) understand the reality of prices.
