Question for conservatives who vote for Republican candidates every few years because the Republicans are the "lesser of two evils." P>
How is your voting strategy working out?
Since "conservative" Republicans have taken over the House of Representatives 11 years ago, the expansion of government has continued at every level. Nothing has been done to stop the holocaust of abortion. Gay marriage under the guise of "civil unions" is becoming a norm in our society. Our government continues in its Wilsonian tradition of globe-trotting and nation-building with the precious blood of American soldiers fertilizing the subjected nations, making them "safe for democracy."
Nothing has been done to deter the invasion of over 10 million illegal immigrants across our southern border. Taxation as a percentage of income is at record levels. Federal and state government debts are at record levels. The middle class of the American citizenry have the boot of the government planted squarely on their necks and continue to shoulder much of the monetary burden that keeps our corrupt governments breathing.
Conservative voters, I ask you again...How is your voting strategy working out? Have the "lesser" of evils advanced your agenda? (I really don't believe that this "evil" is lesser at all...but is merely a different flavor of evil. Much like choosing between strawberry or chocolate ice cream...the underlying substance is the same with the only difference being the flavor.)
I'm not asking if they have promised to advance your agenda (because I know their rhetoric).
I'm asking, "What has the Republican Party done for you and your cause?"
Words without actions are MEANINGLESS.
To use a quote from one of my all-time favorite superheroes in one of my all-time favorite movies (Batman Begins), "It's not what you are underneath that matters, but what you do that defines you."
In politics, it's not what you SAY that matters...but what you will DO once elected to office...
Until there is a paradigm shift in the thinking of conservatives, our nation will continue slouching toward certain destruction...Until there is a revolution in the minds and thought processes of dyed-in-the-wool conservatives who regularly vote Republican, there will be no legitimate change in our nation's course...Until the conservatives arise from their mental dormancy and slumber, our nation will continue to creep toward certain judgment.
Conservative brothers and sisters...OPEN YOUR EYES!
I think we have to question the most fundamental thing.. unrestrained democracy. Want to empower the states? Let the governors appoint senators.
You are exactly right. This is why I have been saying for quite some time that the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed, and that senators should once again be appointed by their state governments. Now, who thinks that the republicans or democrats would ever get behind something like that?
Don't get upitty. Stay on the plantation. The house republicans will be along shortly to calm everyone down and explain the folly of thinking outside the party lines.
That is my point! For the first time ever, I am seriously campaigning for a third party because the Republicans have had complete control of governmnet for years and have been playing defense when they should be playing offense. If they have had complete control of the government and can't get anything done, and have to make compromises with the minority party(i.e., the immigration bill two weeks ago), then they will never get anything done for us! Nothing. I am sorry, but when you hand a party complete control of government for the first time in its history and it accomplishes nothing after four years, then that party is impotent and flawed and needs serious change.
ozarkgirl then why is Bush going out of his way to smack the base?????
Bump to that!
Not well. I tried voting futher Right. The GOP responded by moving their "middle" further Left.
Getting a little frustrated.
John McCain
Rated 0% by NARAL, indicating a pro-life voting record. (Dec 2003)
That said, I'd vote for Rudy over McCain anyday.
Wow. Another third party thread. Whoopie.
I want to win the War on Terror as much as anyone else. From what I have read, and I have researched their views pretty extensively, the CP's issue is that we never declared war, as written in the Constitution.
Kinky blows but Gov Good Hair really Blows.
I am voting for neither,I will vote for the Constitution party.
A quote from this morning:
Falwell said. "And, you know, John McCain is a strong conservative. He's pro-life. He's strong national defense. He's a national hero. His view on family is just where most conservative Christians' views are. It's just that we had another champion back then."

"The war is illegal!!! Impeach the President!!!" ehhh .... no thanks.
Oh please, spare me the hyperbole.
Illegals and runaway spending are more dangerous the terrorism. Terrorism is a serious threat yes but these wo are more immediate threats to the US. Until teh respendicans address this I will be withholding my support.
No, our founding fathers said nothing about the UN, NATO, NAFTA, G8, etc. :)
But they were in favor on international treaties, and alliances when they were in our interest. And that is what the UN, NATO, NAFTA, G8, etc. are.
Trouble is they can't win......maybe a protest vote.....just withhold your vote and money from GOP
I will do both.
The Republicans and Democrats will never support it, because their social engineering schemes are not effective at the state level. Where people can easily move away. They want nationalized mandates.
In the original framework of nationhood.. democracy at the federal levle played a minor role. The senator were appointed, the electoral college was also appointed by state governments.. and hte supreme court was and still is appointed by the president.
The founders however made a check for the people. The congress, which was to have limited power and met for 2 weeks a year originally. Their main thing was to approve or disapprove of the budget, and they had the power to remove the president with a solid majority of them.
