I actually think this is close to the same treatment that President Lincoln had but on a proportional scale.

Lincoln had it a little worse than Bush does with these 6.  Half of Lincoln's generals at the beginning of his first term, including the man he offered command of the Union army, actually took up arms against him and his country and fought a war.

Funny, they were Democrats then, too.  And when they lost those democrats put on white sheets with pointy hoods and began lynching folks.  Gee, maybe it is kind of like today.  Maybe we just haven't gotten to that part of their plan yet. After all, they've proven over and over they only have one playbook and they trot out the same tricks, with minor variations, regardless of the issues.

I think, Rod, every FReeper needs to be an activist here.

Each one of us should send a letter to the editor of our local newspaper telling folks that there are 8,700 retired flag officers and 6 of these represent 1/10th of 1 percent. Additionally, none but Zinni (who had an appointment beyond military duty in the Clinton Administration) are 4-stars. You need SecDef apporval to go up a star; from 1 star through 3. So the fact that they retired BEFORE getting the next star sholud cause one to wonder if there's any sour grapes in their charges.

I sent mine letter this morning.

I found it amusing that he stated categorically that the President and the Pentagon were not doing any planning for a military option against Iran. I guess he figures he would be informed if that were the case.

LOL!!

Exactly, but the fact that the MSM/DNC is not believed anymore is changing the entire ball game.

She is an apostate in the extreme... I dare say, a heretic.
She went after Catholic Answers tax status on the run-up to the election because of it's Catholics Voters Guide. They are pro-abortion, pro-female priest, pro anything anti-church teaching. She a ninth circle excommunicate in absentia.

From the article on Boyd

A phenomenal number of otherwise normal people are not capable of understanding Boyd's thoughts and contributions, and the Generals now complaining about Rumsfeld, I can tell by guessing, belong to this old school thinking.

1 - Boyd was an eccentric genius. However, he was wrong about the F-16. He wanted a day, VFR, point defense aircraft - a role the USAF doesn't play. He and his disciples opposed putting a good radar, bombs etc on the F-16...which made him wrong again. I don't doubt Boyd was smarter than I can ever imagine being - his manueverability diagrams proved that - but he had a lot of strikeouts to go with his home runs.

2 - The line I quoted makes it clear the writer is claiming Boyd's authority when based off of the author's "guessing". Foul!

Oh, man. A pox on your Boyd-disrespecting house!

Boyd was right about the F-16. The gold plating larded on that aircraft took it from super-fighter to good-fighter/so-so bomber. That the aircraft was successful, doesn't mean it was a world beater. The F-16 was purchased, based on the performance it displayed long before the Air Force fattened it up. Superior tactics won the day, because that front scoop insured that other fighters saw the Viper before the Viper saw them. And if you ever lost the engine, you had nothing but a gold-plated rock.

Umm....military officers are heavily Republican - maybe 90%. There is nothing to be done about this. It is the inevitable outcome of democrat policies and an all-volunteer force. The hatred democrats have for the US military means that almost none of them will serve as officers.

The Dems are after the other 10%. What do you think of the Diplomats and Military Commanders for Change Official Statement? As a former diplomat and naval officer, I have never seen anything like this in my lifetime. I really don't care what party they belong to. What they are doing is unseemly and unprecedented, especially given the fact that our troops are on the battlefield. Calling for the resignation of the SecDef and not reelecting a President undermine the Mission and the morale of the people carrying out that Mission. Kerry did something similar in 1971.

Your sarcasm aside, the all-volunteer military was instituted under Nixon. Democrats, like Rangel, would like to reinstitute the draft.
