LYNN -- James Banks thinks he knows how the controversy over immigration in this country is going to end: ......
''The whole United States is going to change," the African-American store manager said as he got his hair cut at a Union Street barbershop on a recent morning. ''They'll let you go, and get one of these happy immigrants in your spot. They won't be late, they won't get sick, and they won't complain. They will work every unhappy American citizen out of their grass-cutting, trash-hauling, floor-sweeping jobs."
But he doesn't blame the immigrants: They're just feeding their families. Banks, 36, says the fault lies with a generation of young African-American men who would rather ''walk their sneakers up and down the street" than step up on a stage to collect high school diplomas.
''Immigration is going to set the black community back 25 years," he said. ''Because they'll let it."
.....''As a community we are beginning to grapple with the plight of the African-American male, which is in a crisis state," said the Rev. Hurmon Hamilton, senior pastor at Roxbury Presbyterian Church. ...
......Virginia Barton, a black activist and community historian who has lived in Lynn for all of her 77 years, said African-Americans once found plenty of work in the city: When she was growing up, they worked as maids, cleaners, and in the shoe factories for which the city was famous.
European immigrants worked beside them in lower-level jobs for a time, mostly sweeping the factory floors. Then the immigrants moved into more skilled jobs, Barton said.
''Things got better for them and stayed the same for the Afro-Americans," Barton said. ''It was racism, simple as that. The immigrants that came had a language problem, but they could work around that. The Afro-Americans had a color problem."

The fact that "The Blacks" are "Complaining," means it is starting to become OK for the MSM to take a hard look at illegal immigration.(Also notice how exquisitely the Left MSM can condescendently couch its latent racism in print ... "O dem blacks ... day always be complainin.")
This also means that illegal immigration may make it onto the script of that travelling minstrel show called the Congressional Black Caucus.
And that means that the Left may finally give its OK to discussing the problem as a problem (Note, I do not say "solving the problem.")
And that means that it will eventually be OK for the Republicans to do something about the problem.

I halfway agree. I can't agree with this completely because it's very hard to compete with people that will work for next to nothing.
You are exactly right.
Before anyone out there yells at me for being a "racist" let me remind you that the Haitians I mentioned are of African decent, with the Guatemalans being mostly Mayans (who don't even speak Spanish!).
Anyone who has no skills and expects an "easy middle class lifestyle" or even "upper lower class" lifestyle is unrealistic, regardless of race or immigration status.

It used to be black West Indians opening up the businesses here where I live. Them, the Koreans (who are everywhere like West Indians), hispanics esp. Salvadoreans and lastly white Europeans who didn't get taken in by racial steering. Now I notice more black Americans opening up businesses of all kinds. I always believed that being self employed is better than relying on someone ELSE for a job. Perhaps that's where it's at. Right after the Civil War, that's what ex-slaves who had a trade did anyway.
That's what Abraham Lincoln, of all people, told black folks to do, after he had a change of heart regarding repatriation.
I imagine ther are a lot more hispanic gangs than black gangs. The second generation hispanic likes TV, ipods, cars, hanging around on street corners, and does dope also. Some of you are going to be in for a huge surprise in a few years.
