The modern age of dhimmitude began 29 years agoWhen are we going to wake up?

The US and all free western people who use energy in their everyday lives are today, this very hour participating in a the payment of a dhimmi tax to the oil exporting countries. To be fair this started way back in the early 1970's with the advent of OPEC. OPEC was initially an almost 100% arab and muslim corsortium. Today it's reaching a fever pitch as the Mullahs and even the likes of Putin understand the louder and more bellicose the diplomatic tone, the higher the price of oil. Since demand exceeded production it's become the wild west where every rabid remark from Ahmadajabad jacks his pocketbook full of more green.

Everytime you dash to the gas station to fill er up your paying your sin tax to the mullahs and muslim regimes in the ME, Asia and Indonesia. They know it. Our government knows it but for some bizarre reason soft peddles this servitude situation. People run in circles looking for a way out and almost every idea is a dead end. Why? Because it's just a rehashment or tried and true failures from the 70's. It's Lucy and Charlie Brown playing football where OPEC and big oil play the part of Lucy, pulling the profit ball away from the independent drillers Charlie Brown who tumble to the ground just as they expend their greatest amount of energy. So you can't do anything about this until you address the circumstance of the stranglehold big oil and OPEC have on our very future and survival.

Many people want immediate relief in the form of a reduction or outright removal of gasoline excise taxes. Why is reducing domestic tax precisely the wrong thing to do? It only serves to weaken American political/ military strength in the form of reduced tax revenue while softening the blow to the consumer. Who doesn't get affected negatively but in fact benefits while the US government suffers in the event of a domestic tax reduction? The persian, arab, russian, indonesian and latin american oil exporters. How? We consume at the same rate or at a greater rate and they don't see any reduction in revenue. That's a policy of national suicide.

So what can we do as a nation to combat the dhmimmi gas tax? First accept that we are at war and face hard but absolutely essential choices for the future of our country. I propose setting a peg price for a bbl of oil. Start it at $60 bbl. The price can be adjusted through legislation and/or be pegged to some agreeable rate of inflation as set by the Fed or simply pegged to the prevailing rate. But it's set at discount from the prevailing rate and will be naturally self correcting should the prevailing rate fall below the peg.

How will this system be self correcting? Anytime the peg price is exceeded in the world market, leases are sold out of federal lands in Alaska and offshore USA. Everytime the Mullahs and the other OPECKERS try to scare the price higher we see more and more land going on the market for exploration. This would be an effective counter punch against OPEC and the fear mongering Mullahs. Through an increase in aggregate production the price would fall back down. Why? Because forecasters and speculators will see the impending glut. These leases should be set aside primarily for independent drillers, not the major oil companies. Certain minimums would have to be met in order to qualify. Again, the daily lease sales continue until the international price dips back below the peg. The real role of the government in this would be to provide roads and basic infrastructure to get the product from these new production zones to domestic refineries. Most of these leases would be in hard to get to places.

The second part is just as controversial. We would have to set a goal for reducing the legal limits for wgt on the roads with the goal to get the largest 18 wheelers and other vehicles trending downward in size. This would be done as a concession to private auto owners who fear losing the battle in a wreck with an oversized commercial vehicle. At the same time set up tax breaks to encourage people to scrap their oversized gas guzzlers (set the minimums) for new higher efficiency cars and trucks.

This is a start. We have to do something. It'll require concessions from the nature fetishizers as well as the military and big oil. Why? Because it negatively impacts each of their missions. But these are precisely the folks who need to give in, along with the private car owner of course.

Today we are being extorted by the Mullahs and the Hugo Chavez's who see profit in instability. The louder and more bellicose they become the higher the price for a barrel of oil. By creating real competition through the introduction of new independent drilling companies and the parcelling out of land, and by encouraging responsible conservation we can fight back and win.

They holler and threaten to try and talk up the price? Dump more Federal land on the market until they feel so threatened from a market point of view they stop. It'll serve a lot of useful purposes.

We're dhimmi sheep to these ME potentates today. We pay our tax every time we fill up.

"Since demand exceeded production"

End of reason right there.

If you don't like the price don't use any or at least use less. I've reduced my consumption to ~40% of what it was a year ago and life is still quite fine. I just bought 6 weeks supply today in anticipation of future price rises. Now I'm working on being able to have up to six months of supply on hand instead of just six weeks. If everyone had control of six months supply for themselves either though direct storage or through futures contracts, demand could be driven to zero for a few months when desired by the consumers. That would be fun to see.

The Mid-East oil fields should be colonized by an Anglo/American force.

The British colonized them in the past and they benfitted from it immensely.

Oil is a life blood for the West and cannot be allowed to be controlled by enemies who would strangle us.

Another alternative is to switch to alcohol/ethanol..

It has been pointed out recently (and often) that Brazil has converted to ethanol and does quite well..
This nation could produce more ethanol on less land than Brazil with both hands tied behind our backs..
We could flood the market with the stuff if we wanted to..

Why pay others $60 to delay the inevitable and then fool around with incrementalism?

Drill now and start putting Americans to work who will spend their wages (and corporate profits) in the US.

Great list.

I've wondered about Robert Kennedy. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I am so mean and nasty that I would use medicines and food, as tools.

Phuque with us over oil, we will withhold food and medicines from you.

Just as many of these exotic wonderlands export oil, they import food and medicine. Their economies are almost totally screwed up, Iran being a good example to study.

BioDiesel from the subtropics - either increased Oil Palm output or work to develop feasible algae production. Current thinking is that oil mostly comes from algae/plankton of long ago.

I bet that the EU would immediately export food and medicine to the ME. Denmark, for example, already exports both.

Not sure I understand your question.. How do you make alcohol? Ethanol?
How do you use it in your car?
How do you market it to the public??
How now brown cow??

Ethanol can be made from a variety of sources, some better than others.. Corn is one source we have readily available..
Brazil uses sugar cane..

The rest is simple fermentation, distillation..
Some simple changes in the law might be required in order for people to set up their own stills, and that may be the biggest obstacle.
Big Oil interests would have no desire to encourage the switch to ethanol..

AFAIK, the conversion of vehicles to Ethanol is straightforward, and no technological hurdle..
I'm fairly confident that american technology and innovation would make ethanol fuel better and cheaper than anyone else in the world..
