The Left, Online and Outraged
The Washington Post ^ | Saturday, April 15, 2006 | David Finkel

Posted on 04/14/2006 11:15:21 PM PDT by Plutarch

In the angry life of Maryscott O'Connor, the rage begins as soon as she opens her eyes and realizes that her president is still George W. Bush... Out there, awaiting her building fury: the Angry Left, where O'Connor's reputation is as one of the angriest of all. "One long, sustained scream" is how she describes the writing she does for various Web logs...

---------------snip----------------------

What's notable about this isn't only the level of anger but the direction from which it is coming. Not that long ago, it was the right that was angry and the left that was, at least comparatively, polite. But after years of being the targets of inflammatory rhetoric, not only from fringe groups but also from such mainstream conservative politicians as Newt Gingrich, the left has gone on the attack. And with Republicans in control of Washington, they have much more to be angry about.

"Powerlessness" is O'Connor's explanation. "This is born of powerlessness..."

I think it would be more logical for her to blame the commies for her father's death, or even Walter Cronkite.

Gee, a perpetually angry, chain-smoking, alcoholic venom spewer. She must be a great mom! I wish my kids could go on a play date to her house.

Great thread!
All you can do is laugh at these worthless, irrelevant mice of the "angry left".
If they had any guts, they would "do the honorable thing, like Admiral Boorda."

In that picture it looks like she wants to be holding a knife in her hand with a stabbing motion. And guess who she wants to be stabbing? She should be investigated as to how close she tries to get to President Bush.

Where to begin on this lunatic? Obviously she's unemployable. She's clearly insane too. She wants to send troops to Darfur? How "unjust" of her. Darfur isn't an imminent threat to the US, they've never attacked us, there are no weapons of mass destruction there. How could we invade such a sovereign nation? we should let inspectors "do their job" for the next 12 years. Darfur is a totally unnnecessary war that we can't afford.

Mr. Finkel must live in an alternate universe. There are a lot of words I would use to describe liberals, but "polite" is certainly not one of them.

You know, one just wastes so much energy being angry all the time. It's really not worth it. Looks like she shrieks and yells a lot.

You have to feel sorry for the kid, doomed to grow up in that hell on Earth.

Spot-on.

What this woman and many other truly unhinged bush-haters are going to experience is a very strong letdown come January 2009. Just like when the Vietnam War ended and the neo-left lost their biggest magnet for recruitment so it will be when W leaves office.

Granted this is a different war that will go on for a very long time and in some aspects will go on forever on a much smaller, tactical scale. Yet when their main target, the selected-not-elected President is gone, no matter who wins the Presidency, the neo-libs will quickly find less future willing recruits which will make them even more infuriated, adding to their irrationality.

Thereafter their actions will turn more towards terroristic tactics which will repel recruits and the public-at-large even more.

The best thing for the left would be for W to be President for 8 more years.

They really are angry at life. Makes you wonder how liberals drag themselves out of bed every morning being just plain p*ssed-off at everyone.

Well, I'm glad to see she's done Step 1!

God, I hope this pathological looney is powerless!!! I have known crazies in my life, but she ranks right up there. She is, obviously, one of those "parallel universe" dwellers.

Anyway, Bush couldn't be the anti-Christ, Clinton had that title sewed up long before Bush came on the scene.

I find it remarkable that she lists her occupations in that order. I always listed mine "mother" first---my greatest calling.

Slightly off-topic: The movie "United 93" is going to be huge. I've gone to various movie bulletin boards and it's easy to spot a liberal: "Too early" "exploiting tragedy" "who cares-this was an inside job" etc.

Yet many, even the nutbag profiled here, will eventually see it just like many of us saw Farenheit 9/11.

I predict that "united 93" will be in the top 5 movie grosses of the year and see the possibility of the silent majority coming out in droves and creating numbers like the last movie that raised the silent majoritiy's interest: "The Passion"

I forget. Whatever happened to that angry Newt Gingrich that the left were so polite to?

Years ago, his fellow Republicans turned on him and fhe resigned. They then killed his revolution that brought them to power. Sort of like a Third World country.

Is that the face of an enemy Information Operator?

Whose objectives do her rants serve?

Should she be ignored?

If she shouldn't be ignored, how should she be dealt with, and by whom?

There is literally no reasoning with people like this.

She apparently assumed permanent victim status early on, and never let go. A wasted, twisted life of helpless rage. It has nothing to do with politics or war -- it's all about her.
