DURHAM, N.C. -- Police attempted to search the dorm rooms of Duke University lacrosse players amid an investigation into the alleged rape of an exotic dancer at a team party, the school's president said Friday.

I had forgotten that all the dorms are key card protected. You can't just come in an wander the halls. According to one of the defense lawyers (my wife just saw on TV), the cops waited until a student exited, caught the door before it closed, and entered the dorm. Highly illegal!
The defense attorneys aren't being given the name of the officer who saw the accuser at Kroger, where she was taken in the police car which left with her from Kroger, and what time she appeared at DMC.
With all of the publicity, I have found it rather odd that no time line has been established.
I dont get your point. Maybe having the party wasnt the wisest decision but what laws were broken ? Seems like the liar stripper is the issue and the one who broke the law. The administration cost the coach his job by going pc on the issue and presuming guilt. Even if the players were guilty I think firing (in this case he was forced to resign) the coach is wrong. I dont buy it that he is somehow responsible. How can he control what the players do off the field? Might as well carry the logic further and fire the players professors also.
"Two Durham police detectives visited a residence hall on the Duke University campus yesterday evening. They were there as part of the ongoing police investigation of the March 13 incident on North Buchanan Boulevard, and they notified the Duke Police Department ahead of time.
OK - so why didn't the Duke Police just accompany them and let them into the dorms?
Because it is illegal, and a violation of their Constitutional rights.
Maybe they were interviewing someone other than the lacrosse players?
Defense lawyer Joe Cheshire's father died today. There has been a lawyer named Joe in the Cheshire family for 170 years.

From what I have seen, I'd want to hire one of them if I were wrongly accused. Or rightly accused.
They were there as part of the ongoing police investigation of the March 13.............
One month. Conducting interviews still?
The first FR thread I can find is dated 3/31.
The first news story (national) is about 3/25.
Did Nifong
1. Take this seriously at first and kept the story quiet
2. Disbelieve the story until word leaked out to the press and then pounce on it as if he believed her all the time?
Or was the story common knowledge in Durham before it went national?
That email was part of a chain that was playing on the movie American Psycho with Christian Bale. It's one of those flicks that has become somewhat of a cult hit.
Nifong leaked one of a chain in order to...well, I'm not sure why he did it, but this is what reportedly occurred.
i read in one article that one of the duke lax players had asked if the members of a black fraternity who were attending a barbecue were eating chicken and watermelon. i think the article was in the duke chronicle.
if a person reads all the articles on this subject, one gets the impression that the alleged victim is a substance abuser, a repeat offender and a liar, and that the duke lax players have a problem with alcohol, behavior influenced by alcohol, and racism.
i think the woman's crimes (perjury and false report to the police) are far more serious than the lax players' (arrests in the past for drunken behavior, according to one article).
next time they get drunk and hire a stripper they should get the police report first.
i hadn't heard the e-mail was bogus. is that the e-mail about wanting to kill a stripper?
Dan Abrams, who was at Duke yesterday (he's an alum), is reporting now that Mangum is changing her story that the rape may have taken as little as three minutes.
And no DNA. Her real name wouldn't be Mayella Ewell, would it? "I don't know how he done, he just done it".
i am only going on what i have seen reported. there are statements about the lax players making racist remarks, but none that i have seen about the woman making racist remarks.
i don't know that she didn't make such remarks; i just haven't seen any reports of them yet.
do you happen to have a link to the article where that is reported?
i'm not doubting what you posted--it sounds like what the DA there would do--i just haven't seen it reported.
When you read through the threads, you will learn that someone did some selective "excerpting" in order to use that particular email to create a social crisis via MSM. The email was about a movie. It had zero, nada to do with with the Exotic Dancer, the Duke Boys, the DA, the boyfriend, the Durham police, the Detectives, Kim, Bissey, or even the neighbors next door.
Can you imagine the whoopdido fun the Journalists would have had dissecting and psychoanalyzing any email from the Duke boys to their mothers? Selectively excerpting, "Mom, I'll be bringing my laundry home at next break, can you pretty please..."
Gracie: Just another indication of what spoiled, oppressive young men these are -- they will grow up to oppress all women anytime everywhere. Stamp them out now!
Camera flash to a college student being interviewed by the campus press: "I felt oppressed just HEARING the word "laundry". It brought back repressed memories. I need a counselor. Quick".
Flash away to major femme journalists panning into the Cameras: "Would you feel, as a mother and a woman, raped by this kind of email from your son?"...tagline... "And that's our report on the very trying situation in Durham". scene close. Station LOGO.
Two sources close to the team, who asked for anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter, said that the e-mail was a reference to a movie called "American Psycho." In the movie, which the sources described as a cult favorite that had been viewed by a number of players on the team, a Wall Street banker goes crazy and kills several women, though possibly only in his dreams. After seeing the e-mail, sent on McFadyen's e-mail account, one of the team members remarked, "I'll bring the Phil Collins music," the sources said. In "American Psycho," the killer delivers a tribute to the music of pop singer Collins as he cavorts with intended victims.
Obviously this woman made the whole thing up- you would have to be willfully blind not to see that. This story brought me to Free Republic because I couldn't get any info on it in the MSM or even on the web. You guys have a sh*t load of information- really great. I've heard some post that they smelled a rat from the beginning, I can say I was almost sure this was another tawana brawley from the get go. This has to be the most egregious example of media bias ever- (Nancy Grace and Wendy Murphy are especially appalling, how do they look themselves in the mirror). I've always hated Duke bc. I'm a MD grad and just disliked their queer basketball team. Still hate the b-ball team but really feel for these lax guys. I follow lacrosse and they had if not the best the 2nd best team in the country(UVA). The only person on the team I have contempt for is the kid that mentioned her grandad picking cotton- has that been confirmed? That is a disgusting comment if true. The e-mail doesn't bother me in the least- joke amongst friends based on cult film American Psycho- now that poor kid (Ryan Mcfayden) has reporters outside his parents house. Also, why hasn't the MSM discussed interracial rape and it's stats- check them out if you can to see who rapes whom- it's shocking. Once again, I have nothing but contempt for people that continue to defend this "lady".
