I think so too--I don't see him running for Governor again.

There's no way we're going to give Kohl a freebie. Not after the last few elections being razor-thin.

And I know this'll tick off a few people here, but I truly believe Walker's drop-out is going to help us more than hinder. It means that (at least on the surface) we're a united front for Doyle and his special interest complex to take on.

Having a primary would have killed both Republican candidates and would have for all intents and purposes guaranteed Doyle a very easy victory in November.

Plus, I find it hard to believe the RINOs in the party engineered Walker's bow-out. It's because Walker couldn't meet the viability goal his campaign set at the end of March. And the polls at the time showed Doyle's lead over Walker outside the margin of error.

Thus Walker dropped out not because of RINO pressure, but the fact that he couldn't match Doyle in fundraising and the polls showed Green to be a stronger candidate to oust Doyle. And much of what he had would have been spent in a bloody primary that would have killed Walker and crippled Green--which in turn would give us four more years.

Now don't get me wrong--and as I've said before, I think Walker's a very great guy and has a solid political future. Unfortunately, it isn't his turn yet for the Governor's Mansion.

But the real test will be if Green can serve as a true Conservative while Governor. I believe he can--however, politics does have a strange habit of changing people.

"It means that (at least on the surface) we're a united front for Doyle and his special interest complex to take on."

You won't tick me off with that statement. If the money was behind Green, that's where the sentiment lies. Avoiding a primary was key, and I've said so in earlier posts. Walker was a Class Act. This is hardly the last we've heard from him. He'll very likely Govern us one day. If we work to make it so. :)

"But the real test will be if Green can serve as a true Conservative while Governor."

If we start now, and keep on him, maybe we can keep him from going over to "the dark side." I'm already signed up for the phone banks and mass mailings. Glad to help. :)
