I hope Gravel wins the nomination. ANYONE we put up could beat him. If I remember right, he was a pompous windbag.
You give up too easy...the easy road will get expected results - more of the same amnesty PC bull$hit.
I am NOT for a blanket amnesty, what I am for is fundamental fairness that does not paint all of them with the brush of the man you posted. Slavery was once legal, but that did not make it morally right.
ARE ILLEGALS AS BAD AS MURDERERS?
The following is one of the most reasoned arguments on the immigration debate I've run into:

ARE ILLEGALS AS BAD AS MURDERERS?
April 3rd 2006
Our criminal justice system wants all but the most serious lawbreakers to pay their debt to society, go straight and get on with their lives. If someone's broken the law, he serves time in jail or pays a fine, but the nation has an interest in welcoming the transgressor back to the mainstream. In that context, it's hard to understand anti-immigration zealots who implicitly compare unauthorized border crossing to murder - insisting that illegals, like murderers, should get no chance to atone for their misdeeds. The program proposed by President Bush asks these law breakers to pay $2,000 in fines, and all back taxes, before going through a 'probation' period of good behavior for least six years to qualify for legal residency - then waiting at least five more years for citizenship! This does not reward law-breaking - but it does give the guilty party a means to make amends, benefiting both himself and society.
If they don't respect the proceedures for coming into the country, why would they respect your property?
I don't think amnesty in the way it was passed in 1986 will work. If I were King, I'd bring everyone who was not here legally before me after gathering all the criminal and security records and I would interview them like a job interview. And make a judgement: does this person WANT to become a part of the American family and is this person not a criminal or security risk. Those who do, pass. Those who don't go. And then get a procedure in place where it doesn't take 23 years to bring your family and relatives who will also abide by our family rules. We grow our own terrorists too...don't forget Richard Reid.
Saw it in action a couple days ago on TV, excellent.
There's a leftist who if he is elected, has been courting the likes of Chavez and company. Do you think we are going to have a better relationship with Mexico with someone like that as President?
Yea, that's great...good luck at getting them to pay fines, taxes or show up to court!
I think the reason it is difficult for you to make that point is because many of us remember the "protests" with Mexican flags.......
we also know that our heritage is based on the knowledge that our ancestors were willing to do the HARD thing,,, and the RIGHT thing...to come to America and be an American...
our ancestors didn't take the esay way and wrong way- and then have an entitlement metality about it.....
I truly believe the biggest red flag on this issue for most Americans is the RABID, ENTITILEMENT, mentality we see from the protestors....
I know that was my tipping point...
I wasn't strong on either side until I saw this... they pushed a little too hard- and now folks are saying- "enough of being nice- time to push back"
just my observation on the entire issue...
You build a fence- secure that border- make it easier for folks to come here- not by process- but by money needed to come legally- and determine that coming here as a WORKER- then you have certain laws you must abide by....you don't get to have full access to our civil courts, etc....
but if you come here for CITIZENSHIP- then you have different laws and status.....
most people will be much more accepting...
but if we don't secure the borders- all you do is keep putting a bucket down to catch the water and never fix the leak.....
LOL!!!!
The more I listen to Medved the more I like him. I wish he were on a local station during my drive home when I still listen to He Who Shall Not be Named. But when I'm near a computer I listen to Medved.
Another great show
Thank you, Tony!
