Al-Qaida Figure Backs Iraqi Insurgents
Top al-Qaida Figure Ayman Al-Zawahri Urges Support for Iraqi Insurgents in Video
The Associated Press (snipped)
CAIRO, Egypt - No. 2 al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahri praised insurgents in Iraq, particularly Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and called on all Muslims to support them in a video posted Thursday on the Internet.
The video was dated with an Islamic month corresponding to November 2005 and al-Zawahri mentions an Oct. 23 earthquake that hit Pakistan and Afghanistan. But it appeared to be the first time the 28-minute video has been made public.
It was not clear why the video was not released soon after the date it was allegedly filmed. . .

So f'in yawn... so the Z-man had some tape made last year and released.
Who cares... he is always saying something stupid and 'unbeliveable' yet people contantly ACT surpirsed and shocked at these things.
MUCH more importantly than a stupid tape by ZarkFark are the Saddam docs, AND the belligerence of Iran.
I fart in the general direction of Zarqaqi.

Six insurgents killed in Afghanistan as troops launch new operation (snipped)
KABUL (AFP) - Afghan and coalition soldiers killed six insurgents in eastern Afghanistan as they launched a new 2,500-troop operation with predawn air and ground strikes, the US military said.
The insurgents were killed as part of Operation Mountain Lion in eastern Kunar province, where seven children were killed Tuesday in a rocket attack blamed on militants allied to the ousted Taliban regime.
"The operation began with predawn air and ground assaults today (Wednesday) in the Pech River Valley, an area notorious for terrorist activity," the US-led coalition said in a statement.
The insurgents were killed in a neighbouring district of the province, which borders Pakistan.
The operation, involving 2,500 troops from the Afghan army and various coalition regiments, aimed to "disrupt insurgents' activities, deny them sanctuary and prevent their ability to resupply," it said.
It was a "comprehensive effort to kill, incapacitate or capture terrorists operating in the region" that would continue "as long as necessary." . . .
Zawahiri was affiliated with this militant group and now almost 1,000 of them are free.

Pakistani gunships target compound
Militants, foreigners killed in raid following bombing in Karachi

(snipped)
(CNN) -- Pakistani helicopter gunships converged Wednesday night on a suspected terrorist compound near the Afghan border, killing "a number" of militants, including some foreigners, according to a military statement read on Pakistani television.
The military targeted the compound near Miran Shah in the country's North Waziristan province, a tribal area, said army spokesman Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan.
A U.S. intelligence official said that Pakistan was still trying to determine who was killed or captured and that it was too early to tell if any high-level terrorist operatives were among them. . .
I bet that is what Operation Mountain Lion was about!
"Zawahiri was affiliated with this militant group and now almost 1,000 of them are free.
Related???"
Didn't see that. Not sure but strange timing.
I have a feeling about this . . .
"I bet that is what Operation Mountain Lion was about!"
Plus the Pakistanis going into Waziristan on the other side of the border.
"No more Tora Boras."
I don't like the timing of the video (not that any time is a good time . . )
Hey i saw a video with Elvis, with Zawahiri to...It was cool you should have seen it to...
The video really sounds like it was taped in advance in reference to this gamaa islamiya release.
Hey, hows come Uncle Binny wasn't on the tape?
I'll be looking for the text. I'm flying blind on this one as I don't know Arabic. So I have to wait for a translation, but it sounds "familiar" . . .
"In the footage, al-Zawahri appears sitting, wearing a white turban and a grey robe with a microphone pinned to it. An automatic weapon is leaning against a brown backdrop behind him."

Well, something's up.
Wishful thinking that Zawahiri is toast.
"Hey, hows come Uncle Binny wasn't on the tape?"
I doubt they are together. Zawahiri is more prolific with his videos. They strongly correlate to future attacks . . .

Good thinking, Cal. It may well be related.

Irans Ahmadinejad: West will burn in nations fury
Wed. 12 Apr 2006
Iran Focus (snipped)
Tehran, Iran, Apr. 12 Irans radical President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a fiery sermon demanded that Irans enemies, or the West, bow down before Iran and apologize for having held back Tehrans nuclear program for three years. He also warned the West that it would burn in the fire of the nations fury.
Those who insulted the Iranian nation and set back Irans movement for progress for several years must apologise, Ahmadinejad said at a rally in the eastern town of Rashtkhar. His comments were aired on state television and carried by the official news agency.
You must bow down to the greatness of the Iranian nation, he said, addressing the West.
He added that if the United States continued to seek to use bullying tactics then every nation of the world would chant Death to America and Death to Israel.
If you do not return to monotheism and worshipping god and refuse to accept justice then you will burn in the fire of the nations fury, Ahmadinejad said. . .
