Increased border security is the best thing for a smuggler.

You are the one who made it personal and offered you knew about me from postings on other sites. Your utterance and mistake, not mine.

Thanks for the link. It doesn't change the fact that the BP grew faster under the Clinton Admin then the Bush Admin.

I'm no Clinton fan, but the fact is, bush is doing the least amount possible to secure the borders.

Those of us that work the border know the reality of the situation.

I see. I'm not involved with border patrol, just the ports of entry, and we've grown considerably.

They've announced a rather ambitious hiring plan for the Border Patrol, but getting qualified applicants is another matter.

In the first quarter of FY 2006, we've already had a 9% increase.

It will get worst, before it gets better.

Agreed.

They have lowered the standard for CBP Officers. God knows what we will be getting in the future.

True, just wondering what's going on in the San Diego/TJ sector. Are amateurs getting into the act?

I can agree we could do allot more, yet this president has done more to protect us than Clinton ever did. Clinton allowed Al Qaeda to flourish under his watch and attack us repeatedly with only a dove response.

We are fighting a costly war in Iraq that had to be done, now that we have proven with the Iraqi documents translation that Saddam was recruiting SUICIDE ATTACKERS from his AIR FORCE to attack US interests 6 months before 9/11. A coincidence? I personally do not think so. There will be allot more that will come out that will point to some sort of link to Saddam and 9/11.

Everyone is getting into the act. The cartels are trying to gain control, but human smuggling is still a free market enterprise.

They must be doing a good job as we don't have a "Canadian" speaking phone prompt yet. :-)

I never said he didn't.

But, you can't fight a war and leave the back door open at the same time.

My problem with Bush, is he's a socialist not a conservative.

Well, you are back. That has to be the shortest ban in the history of the world.

In any case, the ground rules are no ad hominems and bring proof.

Welcome to FR.

I agree you can not fight a war and keep your back door open. We need to solve this in a fashion that secures our borders without alienationg the hispanic vote that has been trending to the GOP.

I disagree Bush is a socialist. Hillary is a socialist.

The policicos allowed this to happen, to worsen, and to become a crisis. Then they said "we have a crisis, got to solve it". Use of the word "crisis" allows politicos to pass laws that we don't like.

Since absolutely nothing was done about the problem for years, the government bears responsibility.

I'm not worried about Mexicans coming into the USA to work. They are good Christian people with good family values.

I'm worried about extremists of another religion who would go into Mexico, pick up some Mexican-type clothes and sneak into the USA. People whose idea of family values is to sing for joy over children blowing themselves up to kill Christians and Jews.

If someone sneaks in and commits a terrorist act, the politicos have the responsibility.
