The Manatee County School Board has suspended a Lakewood Ranch High School coach accused of having sex with a student.
The school board voted unanimously Monday to suspend Ernest Lee Jones, 46, without pay until an investigation is complete. Jones is the school's coach of the girls track team, assistant coach of the girls cross country and basketball teams, and a parent liaison at the school.
Jones was arrested last week on charges of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl last fall.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled for May.
I'd have to convict him just on his name.
Hardly surprising. Anyone who'd devote their life to coaching manatees is only a nudge away from having sex with them.
To be fair, based solely on your stated grounds, shouldn't it be his parents that you convict?

only accused? how come all the women teachers having sex withe the boys go on paid leave, but this guy is on unpaid leave from just an accusation?
Question: If the student is female, 17 and the sex was consensual then where is the crime? I thought the cut-off for such things was 16 - 17.....16 being a no-no, 17, it's ok. Does FL law differ?
