JAMUL Sheriff's deputies are investigating a suspicious fire at a Mexican restaurant as a hate crime. Mariachi's Mexican Bar and Grill on Campo Road near Aurora Vista Drive sustained about $10,000 in damage after it was doused with gasoline and set ablaze late Monday night, sheriff's Lt. Edna Ito said.
The arsonist broke a window just before midnight and spray-painted profanities about Mexicans on the front and side walls in red paint, Ito said.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the fire to call the sheriff's bomb and arson unit at (619) 956-4980 or (858) 565-5200.
This is BOGUS: iceberg lettuce w/tasteless tomatoes and a tablespoon of sour cream WILL NOT BURN !!
"The arsonist broke a window just before midnight and spray-painted profanities about Mexicans on the front and side walls in red paint, Ito said."
Hm. So he took the time and materials to spray-paint something he was going to burn down? Weird. Pretty dumb criminal. Of course, without that it would have been really hard to peg this as a "hate-crime". How fortunate.
Mexican food al Carbon!
Exactly what I was thinking! Sounds like the perfect insurance scam to me...(boy, "hate crimes" sure are handy in oh so many ways!)
Nothing like alot of talk about 'hate crimes against latinos' to lend to the atmosphere of intimidation for those who do not agree with their agenda.
White people, in San Diego, wouldn't burn down a Mexican restaurant. Where would they eat?
My thoughts exactly. I'm against illegal immigration, but I certainly wouldn't burn down a Mexican restaurant. This sounds like a pure insurance scam, especially the painting of racial epithets on a wall that they immediately set on fire.

Lakeside skinheads might.
Lets see what the investigation brings.
