Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

We won't have to vote for McCain if we can get our act together and give early support to a good candidate who can get nominated and elected.

Perot showed people that change was possible, he made them feel like they could effect a change in leadership, he rode a wave of discontent and steered people along with him. That wave of discontent ultimately cost the democrats contol of congress.

Perot only persuaded those foolish enough to vote for him. The democrats lost the house because House republicans ran on the Contract With America in 1994. The CWA was a litany of bold ideas proposed by Gingrich that every American could identify with. Democrats haven't had bold new ideas since the Great Welfare State was proposed by LBJ over 40 years ago.

The Demoncrats used to have some good conservatives. Zell Miller and Nathan Deal were better conservatives than most Republicans. Zell has retired, and Deal has crossed the aisle, but there might still be some conservative Demoncrats, esp. at the state level. IIRC, Campbell is a better conservative than most RINOs.

But, you're missing the point. We're not worrying about the Demoncrat party. We know which way its going and what sorta people are flocking to it. Problem is the 'Pubbies are following 'em on their leftward march. No point is supporting a party that has decided to take your votes for granted as it marches to the center-left.

Now the dumb statements start proving their posters oblivious to the point of Mr. Robinson and to the principles of the Free Republic.

Here's one for you:

I'm conservative and I think God took his sweet time creating everything, and allowed some changes to occur by evolution, though He fashioned mankind in His own image. I also think the whole 6-day thing was God's taking poetic license. So there!

"We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement."

I think I understand why you wrote what you did, but would you mind clarifying one point for me?

Which movement, exactly, are you refering to; a conservative movement, or a Republican movement?

Oh and just for the record book I believe that Perot regrets "causing" eight years of Clinton, however the flip side is that eight years of Clinton have made The democrats certifiably insane by any measurement.

And eight years of Bush will break them permanently.

It's not the RINOs; it's the CINOs. And the fact that we aren't given any true conservative to vote for. I sincerely believe that each federal election is choreographed like a ballet.

Proof and evidence are usually not a part of the creationist arsenal. That kinda explains why you posted your bait upthread and refuse to back it up with the evidence now. Nice try, WKB. Good luck the next time.

IMO brute force took this country, that and very hard work has built it to be what it is/was, when the time comes to take it back, it will be needed again......... to ignore history is a fatal mistake

Agreed.

It's NOT the Party, the Party is what it has always been...

It's the rise of Marxists in the Media you should worry about.
The constant din of lies from the left keeps getting disproven, but the Media salicates over the NEXT one, then hardly says OOPS when it's disproven, and moves on....

Y'all are giving Bush hell over the immigration stance, but it's this very disaster he's been trying to hold off by keeping this a Non-issue!!!

If we come down HARD, Dems get 10 million new voters...
If we come down soft, the base gets mad, and Dems get 10 million new voters...
If we do nothing, the base stays home in November, and DEMS still win....

No matter how you lok at it, this is NOT the issue we want to die over......

The illegal demonstrators are counting on the fact that their demonstrations will will force both parties to cave and give in to their demands.

And if both parties cave what happens to America? Who is the biggest loser?

When did Perot hold that disasterous debate on free trade and immigration where he called Mexicans 'peons' or words to that effect?

That was the turning point in his influence, IMO. He was really badly prepared for that debate, and was badly beaten by his opponent.

Can't remember the opponent.

Your answer is contained in my original post - 'needlessly provocative.'

I consider myself a student of Science, and that doesn't conflict with my views of religion anymore than does the flat earth society.

Saying that I am an evolutionist is like saying that I'm a gravityist because I know that gravity is a fact.

Thank you for your question.

Was promising to sign it if it made it to his desk an example of standing his ground?

How 'bout farm subsidies? Drugs for Geezers? No Child gets Ahead? The proposed "Not-An-Amnesty"?

***utter desperation by the Democrats is the root of these demonstrations for 'rights', an attempt to grab millions of votes.****

BINGO!!!
NOTHING else has worked for them, so now they pander desperately for the Hispanic vote....

Despite misteps by Bush, his low numbers are not translating to Dem victories, and the numbers still show dems LOSING seats in November....

But NOW we have to face some basic facts. It's too late to stop the folks already here, and our BEST hope is stopping the flood still to come. Anything else is Lose-lose for us!!
