Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

Why are you annoyed by the word evolutionst?

An evolutionist is a proponent of evolutionism.

If you area firm believer in Scientific methodology, what would you call yourself and how does that differ from evolutionist?

And I am not calling any evolutionist here at free republic liberal trash . I was just informing WKB. Before I came to free republic 99% of the evolutionist I had spoken too were liberals.

If the republicans(Bush) can be encouraged to see to it that current law is enforced it will appease a great many disgusted (r) voters

And that is precisely why the Democrats are spiking the immigration reform bills, to prevent reform that will appease voters.

Newt's Contract With America Had nothing to do with Perot's "sucking sound" speech in 1992.

Sure it didn't...

I think it is a big mistake for us to be devoting ourselves to organizing counter marches...ie reacting to them.

Until now, we have had the initiative.

We can still keep it, if we don't take their bait.

All of our efforts, IMO, should now be directed towards directing ever more pressure on the House and Senate to reject amnesty and to enforce the border and the laws.

IOW, we can do more good on the phones, faxes, emails, etc. than we can on the streets.

I live in Louisiana.

A few years back, the choice for Governor was between Edwin Edwards and David Duke.

I had the choice of voting for:

1. a hopelessly corrupt Democrat;
2. a Nazi-sympathizing KKKlown;
3. staying home and pretending it wasn't happening.

My choice: I held my nose and voted for Edwards. I was not going to be in the position of remaining on the sidelines if Duke was elected governor of my state.

I feel the same way about the Hildebeast.

You don't understand the phrase.

I understand it perfectly. It's inevitable corollary is, "Never strive for excellence, you might risk too much." It is the sentiment that causes conservatives and libertarians to settle for the lesser of two evils, which, as we are reminded, means they are still settling for evil.

I love your creative, practical thinking.

Great idea IF there are enough private plots strung together far enough to make it worthwhile. Even squeezing the thronging masses into fewer choke points would be a help.

Creationism is a Cancer on Conservatism

Speaking as one who began his career in cancer research, evolution is the philosophical cancer on the truthful study of science.

Conservatism opposes falsehoods espoused by government, by society, and by evolutionists who wrap their willingly self-blinded falsehoods in the garb of "science."

Evolutionists who post to FR are the opportunists leeching off the freedoms and blessings afforded by the application of conservative principles -- this site included. They cannot be true conservatives, because conservatism is based in morality which is simply non-existent in the application of the evolutionary world-view. The humanistic world-view which proceeds from application of evolutionary dogma leads to the systems of morality-impoverished government which true conservatism has always opposed.

Acknowledgement of the Creator by our nation's Founders at this nation's beginning defines the root of true conservatism, and which this site affirms. They recognized the Higher power and His Higher purposes in the founding of this nation.

The Founders acknowledgement of their Creator implied that they were not their own Creators. Evolutionists by contrast must believe they are their own creators, particularly those evolutionists who post here and openly call themselves atheists.

Evolutionism has nothing in common with true conservatism.

Yeah...sure. Get rid of principles and the law of the land for short-term electoral gain. /sarc

Don't you understand that illegals are breaking the law and are criminals by definition? Your biases on this issue are quite transparent. Sad.

There are times when political parties realign or split and the immigration issue may be doing that to the Republican party. There are two factions battling here, the conservative part (law and order, traditional values) and the business part (money side of the GOP). Unless they can reconcile I see this split coming sooner rather than later.

Personally I think the business side is going to win. The conservatives have allowed themselves to be saddled with the worst set of arguments many of which are racist (tribalist) in nature.

First and foremost is the concentration on the illegals themselves. The illegals are an effect not a cause and that cause/problem is influence buying from businesses and corporations. We have allowed them to buy their way out of complying with the law (as well as change the law, look up what banks can do with your SS# and you cannot). The fact is if the word "felony" had been attached to employers and not employees, a political hot potato could have been avoided.

But we didn't do that and in a tribalistic reaction to the illegals, conservatives have advocated a number of arguments that are guaranteed losers.
First is the "they're not assimilating argument". Assimilation happens in populations over generations. There is no evidence this is not happening and there is evidence that assimilation is happening faster than it did with previous large migrations. Immigration is something that has been studied at the university level and there is a large body of work on immigration to the US. Conservatives haven't done their homework on this, anecdotes and romantic myths are easy to explode.

Second, lets join the "living constitution" movement and claim the 14th amendment doesn't say what it says (this is an attack on people's children, oh yea this will help our cause). The 14th amendment and the case law descended from it is so clear I wonder if the Republicans pushing this are leftist moles.

Third the acceptance of the "Hispanics" moniker and rejection of the hyphenated American moniker. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. The origin of African-American and Mexican-American lay in a rejection of American racism of the earlier part of the twentieth century. It was a time (and I'm old enough to remember it) when people casually went around making a distinction between "Americans" (i.e white people) and others. It was rooted in a declaration that "others" were Americans too. "Hispanics" is a totally racist designation,(i.e a tribal designation based in biology). It rejects the founding motto of this country, E Pluribus Unum, the hyphenated American tag embraces it. Turning all Americans of Mexican descent into Hispanics is the surest way to guarantee that the principles that founded this nation die in this century.

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest on your great web site. Now I'll go mow my own grass.

"Like I said, just git'er done. Go down there and build that fence. You have no one to blame but yourself for not gettng it done."

Yes, I suppose my inability to build a fence to secure our border matches my inability to get my two Republican Senators to cut spending, reduce the size of government, overhaul our tax system, and control immigration.

Not only is preventing the DIMRAT GLOBALIST MARXIST TYRANNY folks from getting MORE power crucial . . .

we STILL HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO

to decrease the power they still have.

And, earnest PRAYER is a crucial part of that work, folks.

Thanks Jim for ONCE AGAIN a breath of sanity.

If I have offended any in my zeal to defend the President I apologize.

This issue must be taken away from the RATS who only intend to harm the GOP with it. They have NO intention to do anything else.
