Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site

Posted on 04/11/2006 3:33:35 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Just a reminder: Free Republic is a conservative site. We fight for conservative principles, values and causes. We defend the Constitution. We defend our borders. We defend our God-given rights. We are opposed to the liberal/socialist/Marxist agenda for America. We do not willingly give up ground to the Marxists.

It's true that the illegal immigration issue is very discouraging, and I don't know if anyone has a solution that will appeal to conservatives and yet manage to get by Democrat obstructionism, ie, a filibuster, but I don't see that as any reason to give up everything. We should not allow it to rip us apart and destroy the movement. We fight on.

We hold the majority. We continue working as hard as we possibly can to elect as many conservatives as we possibly can. We build a conservative majority that can overcome the Democrats and the RINOs. We do not willingly give up any seats to Democrats. We add seats. Preferably, conservative seats.

I would also like to remind everyone, that Free Republic does not condone racism and does not advocate violence. We exercise our first amendment rights to free speech and peaceable assembly. We do not condemn people because of their race, religion, ethnicity, skin color, etc. We do not advocate civil war, anarchy, or an overthrow of the government. We do not advocate shooting illegals or mining the borders. We do not appreciate people coming across our borders illegally, but as conservatives, we do not issue racial epithets or threaten them with violence or bodily harm.

And, yes, we are at war. And we do support our troops and their mission. We also respect our commander-in-chief and are mindful that when people disrespect him, it hurts troop morale. We do not appreciate the mainstream media's attempts to destroy America's will to fight and we do not do anything to assist the Democrats and their accomplices in the media in their treasonous mission of undermining the war effort by providing aid and comfort to the enemy.

And despite our dissatisfaction and disappointments in regards to the illegal immigration issue, we recognize that it is not the last issue on earth and there are plenty of other reasons not to allow the Marxist Democrats to retake power.

I'll list a few issues (by no means and exhaustive list) that will be adversely affected by Marxist/Democrats in power:

Islamofascism/terrorism
National Security/Defense
The United Nations (as in their control over us)
The Supreme Court
The federal judiciary
The legislative agenda
The right to life
Marriage between one man, one woman
The family
Education
Health care
Private property
Taxation
Oil/energy
The right to keep and bear arms
The right to freedom of religion
The right to self-governance
All of our God-given rights
The Constitution
The Republic
Liberty itself

Do not get so discouraged that we give it all up. It could take generations to get it back. If ever.

"Securing the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity" is our duty.

These issues are what illegal immigration is about. If we import 12 million socialist voters, we will lose on ALL of these issues.

It is not the MOST important issue to me. Not the least either, but not the most. I think wiping Islamofascism off the face of the earth is much more important and urgent to our freedom and very right to exist. Also, ending abortion is more important to me. In fact, defending all of our God-given rights are probably more important to me. I think electing conservatives and appointing constitutionalist judges will do much more for ending illegal immigration than anything else. And if we can do that, then a lot of our other problems will begin falling into line also. Failure to control the government will be our doom.

Conservatives have made excuses for too long. Not all of us "play out the string". You can continue to appear pessimistic or you can join the conservative crackdown...

Remember: "A house divided against itself cannot stand"

Exactly! We are the majority right now, but that won't last if we allow hot-button issues to divide us. We will end up losing where it counts the most, and all our efforts will have been in vain. Democrats would love that!

Thanks, Mr. Robinson for the course-correction.

Don't misunderstand the vocabulary. Its not that we put a conservative in office that isn't a Republican it is that we are putting some Republicans in office that aren't conservative.

>this issue will define our government and country in this century, and is a check mate issue as it gives the marxists unlimited new voters

Yes, and as I've said, I'm right there with you.

In fact, I'm outright alarmed about the prospect. - I have my children's future to consider, and that includes the possibility of a Socialist/Marxist takeover via untold millions of them voting.

I would sooner cut my wrists than vote for a Dem or sit out an election.

I freely admit my mistake of signing the petition to put Perot on the Montana primary election ballot in 1992, but I ended up voting for Bush 41 in the general election that year, and Dole in the 1996 general election.

The problem is that too many FReepers refuse to look at the immigration issue in a reasonable, thoughtful manner.
Again, the issue is not immigration. If we needed the positive "economic impact" then the Congress could increase the number of folks we let in any time the want to. I have absolutely no problem with folks from other countries coming to mine and living and working here - as long as they RESPECT my country and do it legally.
What is at stake here is the colonization of our nation by a foreign power, and our government is duty bound to protect us from it.

Cordially,
GE

I voted for Perot twice, I think if Perot knew what would the end results of his campaigns would be he'd never would have run.

But he did and I'm proud to say I voted for him.

It can also be said that republicans never would have made the inroads they made in the house and senate had it not been for Perot kicking the status quo around like a tin can, Perot voters choose republicans when they couldn't find a reform party candidate.

Being Conservative does NOTHING for America, if Conservatives don't shape the party in control. Litmus tests will ensure dims control EVERYTHING! I have lived through that nightmare once, and will do everything that I can to stop it from happening again.

I have voted for a RINO every time that I have voted for my Senator, Trent Lott! What? I'm going to vote for a dim or an indy with no chance... NO CHANCE!

Agreed.

However W is the current president and he has just about flat out publicly stated that he will not enforce the Immigration Laws and the current Senate Bill includes an additional 100,000 H1B visas that Bill Gates has requested.

So its a squeeze play on the middle class wages. Deflate wages on the low end AND the high end! And keep those capital gains a rollin' in for the Blue Bloods.

Perot gave us 8 years of Clinton. He had no effect on Congressional races.

Well, I'm not arguing with you. I'd like to see it ended today. But I don't see that happening and I'm not about to surrender all my other rights to the Marxists because of this one failure. Like I said, hold on to the majority and build on it. The problem will eventually be righted.

Perot, man my whole family voted for him. I would have but didn't vote at all for whatever reason... I was probably to busy out getting drunk or something... (I was 18 and a crazy person at that time)

I've been thinking about the illegal problem and I'm convinced that the left is trying to exploit it but that many Americans, particularly the older ones who vote the most are bothered by illegal immigration.

They wan't something done about it including sending people back who are here illegally. My consensus is that the border must be sealed and some real enforcement and punishment handed out. I know that we won't send all 11 million back but a few million at least need to go.

Immigrants and immigration aren't bad. This country did fine without any major immigration restrictions until the last 100 years. But there are laws and we have got to have some rule of law in this country.

If the laws against immigration aren't enforced, how can any of us respect any of the other laws. The Senate plan unfortunately does not have teeth in it.

I'm convinced that things like abortion and birth control have helped to create a labor shortage in our country and I am not hostile to allowing people in to work, but looking at the situation overall something has to be done to enforce the rule of law on immigration.

I hope that Republicans will reach a consensus along the lines I listed above and we must stay together and not let the Democrats tear us apart.

The Dems are coming out of the closet in favor of the illegals and we must make that known wherever and whenever we can.

We need a border fence, more raids and quicker deportation of large numbers of illegals. And we need some punishment of employers, too.

The people who vote the most want this done and that is the direction we must take.
