You've got to hand it to Americans.
If ever there was a group of people more patient, more willing to turn the other cheek, more forgiving and tolerant I just don't know who it would be.
Every day now, it seems, hundreds of thousands of ungrateful human parasites rally in American cities condemning their host country's lack of hospitality.
Think about this.
Somewhere around 20 million foreigners have entered this country illegally and stayed here taking advantage of America's health-care system, educational system, welfare system, taxing its criminal justice system and competing for jobs with those at the very lowest of the economic ladder.
They have taken advantage of loopholes in our laws by dropping babies in this country who automatically become U.S. citizens, despite the illegal entry and presence of the parents.
They have forced Americans to spend hours a year listening to voice-mail operators give them language options. They have forced Americans to pay the cost of bilingual ballots and for Spanish translators at thousands of government agencies. The very character of our once-cohesive English-speaking country is threatened.
These invaders have made it easy for drug dealers, criminals and terrorists to hide behind the skirts of ordinary civilians.
After all this and after U.S. officials steadfastly refuse to enforce the immigration and border security laws already on the books amazingly, it is not Americans out in the streets protesting, it is the illegal invaders.
What is it that they are protesting?
The mere threat of action by lawmakers who have been asleep at the switch for the last 25 years. That's what has prompted this uprising by the army of illegal aliens within our midst.
I would have thought by now that hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Americans would be rising up angry, filling the streets and protesting the destruction of their country. But that is not the case. It is the people destroying the country who are showing their strength.
And while these protesters hurl mean-spirited verbal attacks at their hosts calling them bigots and racists and intolerant Americans sit back and watch.
I'm afraid most Americans have been successfully fattened up for slaughter. We're just not the same people our forebears were. We're not willing to make sacrifices to preserve our freedom and independence and system of self-government. Washington knows this and has decided you are irrelevant.
As wrong as the illegal invaders are, you've got to hand it to them. They know how to push their weight around, and they are willing to march in the streets to get their way. How many Americans are willing to do that any more? How many are willing to make any sacrifice for the way of life they were given by their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents?
Brave men gave their lives for over two centuries to defend our Constitution, our independence and the right of the people to govern themselves under the rule of law. For what? So that a slow invasion over 25 years could take away everything Americans had so gallantly fought to protect?
I'm sitting here astonished today watching the latest demonstrations in Phoenix and Dallas and Pittsburgh and all over the country. Thousands of non-Americans with nothing better to do than show their strength, wave their flags, thumb their noses at our laws and dare us to do something about it.
They are darn lucky I am not running the country. I would order mass arrests at these events, forcing every single participant to prove their legal right to be in this country or face deportation.
I keep hearing about how expensive it would be to find all of the illegals and deport them. They are making it very easy for us with these rallies. The fact that no one is even suggesting roundups shows just how far gone our country is.
Worthless stammering-fool president bump.
I am afraid, the way they are inundating us, that our country is in danger of becoming more like Mexico, instead of the other way around.
An interesting statistic: One in ten Mexicans, born in Mexico, is now living in the USA.
This time, Farah hits the bull's-eye. Great stuff.
Western Rome fell because it hired foreignors, the gauls, who immigrated into Rome as mercenaries in the Western Roman army. Eventually the immigrant army turned on Western Rome and sacked the City of Rome itself. Afterward, the Gauls went to what is now Spain to form their own country.
The Gauls' country lasted for a few hunderd years until the muslims invaded them and destroyed their country.
Eastern Rome bankrupted itself in high taxes to pay foreign nations annually not to invade Eastern Rome. Eventually, when Eastern Rome bankrupted themselves and had no money to bride their enemies off, their enemies invaded and destroyed Eastern Rome.
And in some way the U.S. government is guilty of making the same mistakes that caused both Western Rome (hiring foreigners) and Eastern Rome (bribing tyrants with "U.S. foreign aid" not to make war with anyone) to fall.
"How do you arrest and deport a column 2 miles long? "
How about cutting off ALL assistance? If illegals get NO aid, education, food stamps, medical treatment...NO entitlements of any kind, I think most will leave on their own.
Use our laws we have on the books...ENFORCE THE LAW...Nail employers...dump these freeloading politicians that do not have the best interest of America and Americans at heart.
Do you really think the Democrat voters will dump their guys?
It's quite clear that two principles that have defined the US for over 200 years are coming to an end: (1) a unified culture, and (2) defined, arbitrary borders.
Now, rather than get exercised about the passing of an era, we should exhibit one of the core attributes that really makes the US great: flexibility - the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
There's no reason why the number of states or the shape of the lower 48 should be carved in stone; after all, the US has fought wars and expanded continuously over it's 225+ years.
Rather than wait for other countries to set our fate, we should seize the initiative and re-define what America is going to look like through the rest of the 21st century.
In other words, we should get serious about what it's going to involve absorbing Mexico. We could let their 31 states operate under some sort of loose confederation governed out of a regional capital in Mexico City, but the end result is that we need to create some sort of super federation.
With a a little application of free-market rule of law, including, but not limited to anti-trust provisions, land reform, mortgage financing, etc. we'd have 100m US citizens headed sur.
Admittedly, it might sound a little outlandish right now, but it's much more preferable to just sitting here and taking it in the rear.
You arrest and deport them the same way they got here, one ILLEGAL asshole at a time.
The only thing that doesn't compute are do nothing people like you. We CAN deport them, we just need the will to do so. People with your attitude point up the truth of the article, there is no will left in many of the citizens of America.
It isn't just bus fare, and you know that very well.
"work on integrating those that are already here."
Good luck. My bet is they will still be receiving affirmative action support, etc. in 20 years. Hell, in 40 years.
Economic integration leads to political integration leads to social integration. Worked for the Irish, it'll work for Latinos.
No mention of the Huns? That's pretty weak. Western Rome was invaded by a multitude of foreign barbarian tribes, pushed into Roman lands by the oncoming Huns, some settling and attempting to romanize (rather unsuccessfully), and some just lootin' and sackin' the old-fashioned way. Hardly helped. Also, the tendency of Roman leadership to fight each other as much as external enemies hardly helped. We could make a long list of reasons for Rome falling.
Suffice to say that Rome blew its budget trying to deal with all of the threats from the frontier.
RE: Farm subsidies.
Seriously, are you being serious here?
Serious as cancer. Farm subsidies are an excellent bellwether.
Could you explain how a wall would "substantially reduce hopes for our future"? Or is importing the poor, angry unskilled masses of South America really that important for the future of the United States?
A wall would be both ineffective and symbolically terrible. A wall can (and will) be flown over, undermined, or simply blown through. There's big enough money behind drug and people smuggling for the Kingpins and Coyotes to get really creative in circumventing even the most high-tech wall.
It's a stupid answer to a complicated problem. Americans aren't stupid, we can do better.
Well, we never had a say in the last election. Bush let the UN observers in to watch the elections or as some of you will argue for Bush "foreign observers". While losing our country we got 2 conservative judges (time will tell).
For years only a few people would get on the illegal immigration threads. There were so many people kicked off this forum because of illegal immigration. It has been going on for years that people have been made to feel like second class citizens due to illegal immigration. Look who the losers are now.
Don't get upset now. You will have your choice between the democrats one world order, the republican new world order and a 3rd party. No doubt the 3rd party is a loser after the first 2 losers.
Deportation will cost hundreds of billions, and we can't imprison them (that would cost even more), and we won't shoot them. That being the case, we have very few options.
