Please mark your calendars to be in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, April 23, 2006 for a rally calling on the federal government to secure our borders, enforce our immigration laws and to not give amnesty to illegal aliens.
A formal announcement will be coming soon after a few details are worked out. Time is short, so I wanted to give everyone a heads up that something is in the works.
Please note, this will not be a rally for those who hate immigrants. This will be a rally for those who love America and want to preserve it for all Americans and legal immigrants.

>And as Pukin' has pointed out ... the perception and
>impact of these events can easily get distorted coming
>through the media filter
This is like saying "we don't need WOT" because "coming through the media filter it will get distorted".. Of course it will - this is why we fight!
If you care what MSM will say then you are on the wrong side, this is not how we FIGHT!
>When my FR page contained images of the patches I earned
>in the military this nonsense didn't occur. Must we all
>know where our awards if we don't want to be bothered
>with the stupid comments from some who feel perfectly
>comfortable typing without thinking?
We understand your point of view, and will will consider it.
But you have to stop posting it over and over again. You are helping liberals by doing so. It is hard enough without you to get people with jobs to get together, now you are posting this every other post.
We hear you - you think it is not a good idea.
Keeping this thread bumped.
"...but I hate to be goaded into adopting the tactics of our enemies ... tactics that are so well-suited to them and so ill-suited to us."
Well said. I agree. The fact that the other hundreds of millions of us that weren't out protesting and were at our desks or feeding our kids or planting crops speaks VOLUMES to me versus the "Mob for Hire" that ANSWER and ACORN threw together for these various protests.
I'm not sinking to that level, either. If some see that as wimping out, so be it. I do plenty of political educating and campaigning to try to change things for the better. A demonstration, unless it's rememebered for a violent free-for-all as so many Viet Nam protests turned out to be, don't accomplish much, IMHO.
Socialists will show us exactly who they are every d@mn day if we just stand back and let them.
I don't either. I know firsthand what the media can and will do. It'll be made to look like pathetic and comparisons will be made about the number of participants (if it gets any coverage at all). Unfortunately, that's self-defeating. It doesn't mean I don't respect the thought behind the rally plan, just that IMO kristinn may want to reconsider.
Like the media did with the Minutemen?
If your message is sound, there is only so much the media can do against you. And as the backlash against the large pro-illegal rallies is showing, size doesn't necessarily matter - message is first and foremost.
Freeper protestors are quite used to the MSM trying to spin us. We usually end up spinning them right back until they are dizzy.
You don't know me either, pal.
Leaving the streets to the Reconquistas and the MSM cedes the argument to them.
No thanks.
Quick question: Will you be there?
Planning on it if the wife is willing to go as well. Don't get out to freep protests as much as I used to since I up and got married.
That argument has been made time and time again for this cause or that.
The largest event that FR directly sponsored drew 4,000 people (March for Justice).
What did that get us? His Slickness's impeachment to his everlasting shame.
Small numbers make a difference. Particularly with media-savvy spokespeople.
And your suggestion to convince our elected officials to pass legislation HR4437 instead of "giving away the farm"?
> don't either. I know firsthand what the media can and

I don't understand this obsession with MSM.. Do you watch CBS? NBC? CNN? Do you know anybody who takes them seriously? I don't either, so be brave, and stand for what you believe!
Don't be defeated by "talking heads" and "leg crossers" on TV!

See? I told you. It going to backfire. I'm seeing all sorts of signs already.
Try reading the linked article.
Really? Are most Americans so fickle that they would allow their positions to be swayed by a media that they know to be dishonest?
You know what I saw yesterday? Sign after sign after sign with ANSWERcoalition.com on it.
It's up to us to get the message out about what this is. MSM be damned.
Hi, b2 ... I guess we have to decide what the purpose of our rally will be.
Is it to influence the public or the politicians? If so, then how it is portrayed in the media that the public and the politicians are watching does matter ... whether we like it or not.
If the purpose is just to bolster our own spirits, then I agree that the media spin becomes less of a factor.
See? You and your wife won't be there; I won't be there. Maybe we should send holograms in our place to let everyone know we're there in spirit? :o)
I still don't think it's a good idea. The Swift Vets Rally was planned even further in advance and was, I'm sorry to say, not well attended at all. The only coverage that received (that I was aware of) was C-SPAN and we all know that's primarily watched by political fanatics like ourselves. Conservatives just aren't the protesting type...usually because they are responsible people. I also don't see a lot of interest by non-FReepers for a counter-protest march.
No excuses. I have a life too. This is all a question of priorities.
