And so I repeat my challenges to Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer. I challenge them to tell us which arguments are new and have not previously been made on hate sites and in anti-Israel screeds. What new evidence has been gathered? Why are there so many factual errors, all cutting against Israel? Why didn’t they present important counterfacts or address any counterarguments? Walt and Mearsheimer repeatedly claim that they have written their paper, at least in part, in order to stimulate dialogue concerning the influence of the Lobby. They claim that it is the pro-Israel side that seeks to suppress public discussion: “[The Lobby] does not want an open debate on issues involving Israel, because an open debate might cause Americans to question the level of support they currently provide.” Yet the pro-Israel side has risen to the Walt-Mearsheimer challenge and has participated in the marketplace of ideas, only to be greeted by silence from the authors, who have generally refused to defend their views. I have personally offered Walt and Mearsheimer an opportunity to debate the issues raised in their paper, but to date they have not done so. My invitation to debate remains open. I challenge Mearsheimer and Walt to look me in the eye and tell me that because I am a proud Jew and a critical supporter of Israel, I am disloyal to my country.

The Dersh has produced an outstanding reply to the shoddy anti-Israel piece of garbage co-authored by Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer at Harvard. Its too long to post on FR but its still worth reading, if only to note Alan Dershowitz's call to debate these moonbats in the marketplace of ideas. The hard left and the hard right have made many scurillous charges about the alleged power of Jews to set and drive American foreign policy but its interesting none of them are willing to defend them. Mere support of Israel from whatever quarter, Jewish or non-Jewish is is never to be identified with disloyalty to America. Our country has all kinds of lobbies that represent this or that interest and their participation in our public life is never questioned. Its only an issue when Jews do so and that is a motive that demands on its own terms, an explanation.

Doesn't matter one whit whether it's Cindy Sheehan or Pat Buchanan spewing it; it's the exact same bravo sierra, either way.

I haven't always agreed with his politics but unlike many liberals, Alan Dershowitz isn't a moonbat. I find myself agreeing with him on a lot of things and his last few books, apart from the one about the 2000 election, have been pretty good.

I'm still waiting for "The Dersh" to admit that his beloved Democratic party is the center of anti-Israel hatred and that conservatives (whom he once labelled "absolute evil") are the ones defending Israel. His own silence is every bit as loud as that of the Israel-haters.

HaShem allows certain evils to arise for specific reasons. Charges of "clannishness" arise when Jews intermarry. Charges of "Talmudism" arise when Jews forsake the Talmud. Holocaust denial arises when Jews refuse to defend the historicity of the TaNa"KH. And charges of conspiring to rule the world serve to remind `Am Yisra'el that they are indeed HaShem's priestly people, destined to rule mankind in holiness in the days of Mashiach HaMelekh. I doubt the "proud Jew" Dershowitz would agree with any of the above.

Seeing as how Dershowitz once debated the (pro-Israel) Alan Keyes G-d isn't necessary for us to have "rights" (and doubtless that G-d isn't necessary for one to be a "proud Jew"), he'd make a good member of the atheist/evolutionist contingent here at FR. He already has a fake reason for living.

No one is perfect, even me. I am a product of intermarriage and I forgave my father during his lifetime and after he passed away. I managed to secure a Jewish burial for him. It reminds me that Jews cannot run away from who they are and I cannot disown my ties to my family name either. I am proud of it. I think even Dershowitz would agree the most pressing problem in the world today besides the evil of Islam, is the paganism of the Left.

I recall reading with great enjoyment the debate between Amiel Hirsch and Yosef Reinman. I found myself agreeing with the Orthodox interlocutor every time. The reasons are not too difficult to comprehend. The Reform pagans have forgotten they're Jews in a rush to adopt the secular liberal beliefs of the day. And while they play down their Jewishness, the rest of the world never lets them forget it. If assimilation and conversion could have solved the problem of anti-Semitism, it would have done so already. Some things are beyond man to change, such as His loyalty to God.

Also note that this charge of "dual loyalty" isn't made against other militantly ethnic groups (otherwise the Irish would have been kicked out of every country they'd ever emigrated to), and that it predates by centuries Jews having a state to be "loyal" to!

The nations of the world have always hated and resented Israel because of the bechirah (election). That is why they are always singled out for charges of "dual loyalty."

Note also that the nations of the world have always opposed Jewish possession of 'Eretz Yisra'el, even though none of them want it for themselves. They know the Jewish return to The Land means the end of their false religions and worldviews, hence they oppose it.
