People have investigated the "$5 for a head of lettuce" argument and found it to be a myth.
Paid Labor represents on average 7% of the retail price.
You could double the wages of a field hand and the price of lettuce would go up by 14%.
BTW, 75% of the paid farmer laborers in the USA are American Citizens.
Plus, the border guards can't even do their jobs the way we want them to, because of the ACLU and other groups that will litigate them to death!
How to do it? One small step at a time, just like it grew one small step at a time. If I remember right, the gas tax in the UK is a major funding item for your healthcare. If so, changing your healthcare a little at a time would provide the means to lower gasoline taxes along with it. That is IF you can find any politician who has the will do it.
If there is something I should post a clip of, please let me know via response or a private message. The latter would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
PD, I don't know how long you've lived in San Diego, but I'm a life-long Calif native. All the infrastructure that you see in SD, including the Coronado bridge, I-5, I-8, I-15, etc were laid-out, designed and built back in the 50s & 60s. Ditto for UCSD, SD State - throw in the hospitals, Mission Bay and every other infrastructure improvement you can think of. Now repeat this for the ENTIRE state - all done in the 50-70s.
The point? Where's the money today? Our GDP in real terms drawfs those previous eras. Without illegals, Calif would look like Singapore. Sure, lettuce would cost $5/head, but LA would still look like it was part of a 1st world country.
Total Budget of Federal Government was over $1,800 billion last year.
California alone collects over $110 billion in taxes every year.
We won't miss $8.5 billion in taxes paid by illegal aliens.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
In April 2005, Ingraham announced she was engaged to businessman James V. Reyes, with a planned wedding in May or June, 2005. On April 26, 2005, she announced on the air that she had undergone surgery for the treatment of breast cancer. On May 11, 2005, Ingraham told listeners that her engagement to Reyes had been canceled, citing issues regarding her diagnosis with breast cancer. Despite the break-up, she maintains that the two remain good friends. She has told listeners in 2006 that she is now in good health.
Awareness makes people think about who they vote for
You actually vote for people who will lower or at least will not raise taxes.
I think it's pretty close price wise. Our heads here are bigger, if I remember right.
Other than Lou Dobbs, and maybe one or two others cnn could not possibly move further left.
But how much of that money is given back by uninsured illegals driving drunk and killing people? Unpaid healthcare bills? Im not arguing, just pointing out that this is a mess..
The Border must come first. Secure it, then work out the rest..

I'm not sure I follow you.... There is nothing I need you to post; do so if you desire to....I am not the owner of this thread, only the starter!
Are you taping the shows? Do you have clips?
Maybe everyone goes away because in making THIS point you don't use fact- you use ASSUMPTIONS and ATTACKS- as if people are supposed to defend themselves from your CONJECTURE...
you start out arguing facts.. then you shift to the WWJD card while you condone LAW BREAKING for $$$$$$$....
which one is it?
WWJD or break laws if it is good business and cash flow?
YOU MADE THE ATTACK ON ME- PERSONALLY0- not "MOST AMERICANS" -- ME! You made the charge- PROVE IT! What do you know about ME that tells you I serve the almighty dollar over right and wrong?
You start out fine- but then descend into attacks...then when people take the high road you pound your chest and let out a VICTORY CRY?
ROFLLLLL!!!
priceless...
I hate to tell you this....but there is already a HUGH percentage of people on this website that probably would be happy to see Bush impeached....unfortunately.
One thing you didn't mention (unless is didn't see it)..is something I heard on a radio show a while back..
That if it ever came about to deport a large percentage of the illegals...it could very likely COLLAPSE our economy, because of all of the home mortgages that would be in default...other bank loans...businesses that cater to them, or are run by them...ALL would affect our economy very badly.
Sounds like great kids you have Laverne!!
