I drove through the outer edge of the storm that dropped a tornado about 4 miles away from me. some winds but nothing catastrophic, but the hail was incredible. Mostly pea and marble size, but every once in awhile something would hit the roof of my van and really catch my attention. I kept expecting the windshield to shatter with each strike, which sounded like bullets glancing off, but it most not as been sever as it seemed at the time.

I actually drove past my neighberhood and went on another 2 miles to the store I was heading for. By the time I got there it had all moved on. As I pulled up to the store and skys that were quickly clearing the emergency broadcast system and tornado sirens started going off for the tornado that had been spotted back in the vicinity of where I work and had just come from.

I looked up at the clearing sky and said "now they set the sirens off!"

My kids and home were fine and there wasn't any real damage from that storm in our county, but it moved east and did great damage in the countys east of us. I'm pretty sure it's the same storm that ended up killing people further east in the state and, if not, it was part of the same line of storms.

Thank you for your concern. I don't like tornados, but I like earthquakes less as you have absolutely no warning before those hit you (and this region is predicted to have a big one someday). At least with tornados you usually get some warning.

True. Political predictions usually tend to be wrong, however, which is what I would anticipate here.

Got to go. Will check back later.

What would Jesus do?

Well- I doubt He would support LAW BREAKING and tax dodging...I think He actually addressed this.....supporiting your family is one thing....breaking laws every day is not an HONEST LIVING! People CAN get here LEGALLY-- these illegals are not honorable...invading our land and dismissing our sovereignty is only the FIRST law they break....it is the gov't's job to enforce the laws....it is OUR JOB to hold them ACCOUNTABLE!- hence the PINK SLIPS....

If government does not enforce its own laws, then yes, I am for people working under the table to support themselves. The illegal immigrant that you call 'exploited' is making 500 to 700% more money in the U.S. then they would be making in Mexico. They don't feel exploited in any sense of the word.

this is what baffles me... I AM NOT INTERESTED in what they FEEL! I WANT MY COUNTRY AND IT'S LAWS ADHERED TO! Just because the don't FEEL like we are exploiting them because we treat them better than their own country does not mean we are NOT sxploiting them.

My ex-husband and I sat down one time and made a list of things that needed to be done. Then we divided the list. A week later- My list was done.. none of his had even been started.

I said, "You still haven't done...."

You know what his repsonse was? "Well, you only told me ONCE."

PATHETIC! Absolutley PATHETIC!

It is ILLEGAL for these people to cross our borders without going through the proper channels. THEY KNOW THIS! Saying- "well no one was there shooting at me when I came across, so I fugured it was okay" doesn't cut it....

You hit a good point that we don't ENFORCE THEM! - THAT is EXACTLY WHAT ANGERS ME MOST! But that does not mean I let the Law breakers off the hook!

It is like saying dead beat dads are not to blame for abandoning their kids because no one FORCES them to LIVE UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILTY!... absurd...they are scum!

same witht he illegals...

our Gov't has REFUSED to enforce our laws...and they make it APPEALING to BREAK The law instead of making it easier for those wanting to come here for honest and good reasons and in an honest way....

So I guess we agree on one point-- IT IS THE GOV'T FAULT- So why excuses about how good it is for us that they don't ENFORCE the laws?

I suppose we do the same thing we do for all those American born losers. Teach through example, give with compassion, but hold them responsible for their choices.

HUH? You may want to re-word that. The kids are NOT BORN LOSERS! The DADS are- NO ONE IS HOLDING THEM RESPONSIBLE! and teaching them by example is what? showing them that there are no consequences to abandoning your family? Teach them that mom staying there and living up to her responsiblities as best she can is a SUCKER? Yeah- keep the dead beats safe- throw the kids down the drain...they are just born losers...oy! These kids are shown everyday that there is nothing good about being responsible for decisions....mom is stressed out and overworked and angry......dad is drinking, smoking dope, and scot free....no one gives him dirty looks in line at the liquor store.. but boy doesn't mom get all the love and compassion in the world when she pulls out food stamps in line at the grocery....THIS IS WHAT THEY SEE! THEY SEE how society treats them and mom......as opposed to how they treat dad....

Think the problem is the world doesn't really understand the Zero Sum Fallacy.

That really is it in a nutshell.

How many FReepers are aware that illegal immigrants pay approximately 7 Billion dollars a year currently in Social Security taxes and another 1.5 billion in Medicare taxes? Anyone who thinks our government is going to do anything that changes that little factoid is off their noggin.

If there were any justice in this world the next time Kerry goes near the Vietnam Wall, it would fall on him.

That is the God's truth. I cannot get over how stunningly stupid this move was for Kerry. We were winning in Viet Nam and would have prevailed, but for the treason being practiced here at home, and Kerry was one of those traitors. Pulling out caused mass murder. We will get the same thing again if we adopt his "plan", which is to surrender and run.

His pretending that he visted the Wall just reminds everyone of his treason. Just dumb, imho.

Ali, you can probably find thousands of conspiracy theories links about the crash but they all are false. Posting more doesn't change that.

I will not rebut them; I don't have time. I was at Ramstein when the crash happened, and the review board met at my wife's office for three weeks. Read what I wrote and disbelief it, for all I care.

IMO, the micro and macro of this..

The MSM and Dems must portray these as "leaks" (even though anyone with half a brain knows better) to give cover to Jay Rocky, NY Times, etal in the face of a real investigation that may not be going too well. The MSM will attempt to convince the public that there is no difference between this and actual leaks that shut down intel initiatives.

Bigger picture...
is a little more interesting. The Dems have made a living misrepresenting classified intel received in briefings believing that their statements would never be challenged. Were the WH to go into more detail publicly would disclose methodology and perhaps cost lives. Dems knew GW would not do that. Well all of a sudden we learn the WH is willing declassify info that "sets the record straight".

Two things...
1. This allows the original to be validated without disclosing methods or sources.
2. Now that we know Bush is willing to do that, will he not also be willing to release more information as to which Dems were at what meetings where certain knowns (now confirmed information - thanks to the efforts of "J") were discussed.

IMO, the Dems have placed themselves in a precarious situation. Call it "rope a dope" if you will. In any event, if Bush chooses to pull this trigger, the Dems are so screwed. It couldn't happen to a more deserving bunch.

Keep in mind. This is all based on unsubstantiated assumption. Considering they are an advocacy group, their assumptions are going to be skewed one way. Another group doing the same "study" using a different set of assumptions would draw a completely different conclusion.

Really need to carefully consider sources and motivations on this. Without any clear grasp of the total population of illegals and their income, no way to know the real cost benefit analysis.

For example, suppose this community has x# of illegals. That number of illegals generates x number of sales of goods and services. That generates taxable economic activity. These businesses have to hire people and pay suppliers and logistics personnel etc and that generates taxable incomes. And so on etc etc. The result is x number of illegals generates and exponential number of tax dollars.

Maybe the tax dollars generate are MORE then costs, maybe less. We do not know. Too many variable. Let take Health Care. How much of the cost is actually improvements in technology and medicine that costs more? Easy to blame the illegal for the cost increases, hard to prove they are or aren't responsible. Growing populations ALWAYS generate increased costs. Some of these costs would happened EVEN if you had no illegals. No way to know how much or how little.
