No, it's not wrong for Mexicans to go north. It's wrong for us to let them in.

No one's property is stolen or damaged. No point in reading beyond this false statement. The moment you step on a road, go to a hosital, use a restroom, especially enroll your kids into schools, you are stealing that which was provided by the citizens of the ecountry you are invading.

Why don't we tell the Illegals that we are going to adopt Mexico's Laws concerning illegal imigration and see what happens. My bet is they will start heading to Canada.

if you wake up at 3:30 and someone is in your backyard, should you defend your borders? the argument seems to be that the USA has no rights on it's southern border

There are many hundreds of millions of people in the world who lack "essential health care, education for their children, and more." Does "basic decency," in Krugman's opinion, require that we provide for them, too? Presumably not...
Oh, yes it does. Krugman is a firm believer that the US should be responsible for feeding, clothing, and sheltering everyone in the world.

Putting aside for a moment those born here are U.S. citizens, according to Plyer v. Doe, schools are provided for ALL children, regardless of immigration status.
To: Coleus
Establishment of a "right to migrate" would allow American citizens to go where they pleased, buy what they wished, and hopefully, push the locals out of the way if it was a really good spot and we liked it a lot.
These Mexicans best watch out ~ Baja has its attractions for us, as does Cancun and other parts of the Yucatan.
All of which leads me to believe the writer of that piece didn't really think through things very well at all.

That may be the current law, but that is part of the problem. As long as we have a services magnet we will continue to be swamped by the criminal invaders. Prop 187 was the right idea and should be fought to be re-upheld.
Theft is theft.

Strawman alert - no one has ever said the U.S. has to feed, clothe, and shelter 3 billion people - I believe the current debate is about 20 million max.
To: freedumb2003
Well, we agree that "theft is theft" at least : )

Is it wrong for a poor but able-bodied Mexican without the requisite documents to cross the Rio Grande to look for work in El Norte? Where is the quid pro quo? Is it wrong for Amerins to go into Mexico for opportunity or a new way of life?

No one's property is stolen or damaged.
Lets not forget about all the farmland that gets trampled, and fences that are broken, and cattle let loose. Sure, no harm done by the "migrants"!

No. Krugman wants us to feed 6 billion.

TCS is an even bigger joke than the Weekly Standard. MY proposal is if amnesty is passed, that when national politics flips and liberals take full charge, that people such as Nathan Smith get hit by an extra tax surcharge to pay for all the programs all the new citizens will vote for.
