No, it's not wrong for Mexicans to go north. It's wrong for us to let them in.

No one's property is stolen or damaged.

No point in reading beyond this false statement. The moment you step on a road, go to a hosital, use a restroom, especially enroll your kids into schools, you are stealing that which was provided by the citizens of the ecountry you are invading.

Why don't we tell the Illegals that we are going to adopt Mexico's Laws concerning illegal imigration and see what happens. My bet is they will start heading to Canada.

if you wake up at 3:30 and someone is in your backyard, should you defend your borders? the argument seems to be that the USA has no rights on it's southern border

There are many hundreds of millions of people in the world who lack "essential health care, education for their children, and more." Does "basic decency," in Krugman's opinion, require that we provide for them, too? Presumably not...

Oh, yes it does. Krugman is a firm believer that the US should be responsible for feeding, clothing, and sheltering everyone in the world.

Establishment of a "right to migrate" would allow American citizens to go where they pleased, buy what they wished, and hopefully, push the locals out of the way if it was a really good spot and we liked it a lot.

These Mexicans best watch out ~ Baja has its attractions for us, as does Cancun and other parts of the Yucatan.

All of which leads me to believe the writer of that piece didn't really think through things very well at all.

Is it wrong for a poor but able-bodied Mexican without the requisite documents to cross the Rio Grande to look for work in El Norte?

Where is the quid pro quo? Is it wrong for Amerins to go into Mexico for opportunity or a new way of life?

TCS is an even bigger joke than the Weekly Standard. MY proposal is if amnesty is passed, that when national politics flips and liberals take full charge, that people such as Nathan Smith get hit by an extra tax surcharge to pay for all the programs all the new citizens will vote for.

It causes me harm when they bring their family, put them in public school to the tune of $9,000+ per kid and then fill the emergency room of the local hospital.

Not to mention all the crime and cost of responding and prosecuting it.

If illegals simply came here, were productive and didn't create numerous problems, we wouldn't be having this debate.

Is it wrong for a poor but able-bodied Mexican without the requisite documents to cross the Rio Grande to look for work in El Norte?.... On the other hand, no one is harmed by it in the strictest sense.
The trouble is that his/her Mexicanity is not left south of the river, and everybody is harmed when they bring their Mexico with them.

I will tell you what is the height of hypocrisy is that if you try to enter into Mexico from Central America without papers they will shoot you on site! This is what we should do too. Then tell Mexico that we are following the same immigration policy they are. Then see how they respond when we call them raciest.

All you have to do is insist Americans have equal privileges in Mexico, then you learn it is about protecting culture and community.

Illegal immigrants can walk into the welfare office and get on the dole right away. That's the same as sticking their hands right into my pocket. I don't want my taxes going to give illegals a free ride.

No one's property is stolen or damaged.

THis kid is clueless. Let him live with some ranchers near the border and clean up after the illegal aliens have passed through.

At the heart of the current immigration debate is an ethical question: Is it wrong for a poor but able-bodied Mexican without the requisite documents to cross the Rio Grande to look for work in El Norte

Only according to the laws of the United States of America that our elected representatives REFUSE to uphold.

Pro-amnesty talking points are lies. Illegals are a drain on U.S. society in many ways.

• Illegal aliens commit crimes [rape, robbery, forgery]; drug smuggling; and gang activities.
• Illegal aliens bring diseases across the border with them [polio, virulent tuberculosis, syphilis, viruses, and …]
• Illegal aliens get social services [welfare checks, health care, and public school] paid for by American Taxpayers.
• Illegal aliens increase population density in our cities adding to pollution and congestion.
• Illegal alien encampments in wild areas destroy wildlife habitat and pollute our creeks and rivers. They are a threat to the environment.
• Illegal aliens take jobs away from American Citizens.

This fellow has been spending too much time sequestered in a university office or some such - he needs to actually go out into the world and see for his own eyes the real-world impact of illegal immigration and 'La Raza'.

Or come over here to Free Republic.
