Scotch Irish mountain people. My ancestors. No wonder I'm so hard to get along with.

Yes and we just lost one of the greatest ones. Desmond T. Doss was the only concientous objector to be awarded the Medal of Honor in WWII.

This man was the real deal and his story of heroism is unbelievable. I met him and he was a man of quiet but unfailing faith and lived life in a very uplifting manner.

He will be missed. Google him and you will find his story.

R I P Mr. Doss.

"only concientous objector"

Undoubtedly a draftee. I wonder how many MOH awardees have been draftees?

I am too aware of Desmond Doss and his heroics. I am sad to hear that he passed.

It is a legitimate question. Are the Ozarks in Missouri and Arkansas considered part of the "Southern Mountains?" How about the Arbuckles in Oklahoma? What exactly are the "Southern Mountains?" Never heard of such a mountain range.

Add me to your question. What are the Southern Mountains? Do the Ozarks qualify?

I'm asking what the Southern Mountains are?

Appilachians, Smokies, Blue Ridge. Western Virginia, West Virginia western North Carolina, Northwest South Carolina, East Tennessee, Northern Georgia, Eastern Kentucky.

Toughest people in the world. They're your best buddy and you can depend on them. But do NOT pick a fight with them.
