NEW YORK An Episcopal Church panel studying the furor over the denomination's first openly gay bishop proposed Friday that dioceses use "very considerable caution" from now on in electing bishops with same-sex partners, but stopped short of the moratorium critics demanded. The commission also recommended that the American church offer "apology and repentance" for the turmoil its actions caused within the global Anglican Communion, and said dioceses should stop creating blessing ceremonies for same-gender couples, at least temporarily.

On May 6, the Diocese of California is scheduled to elect a new bishop and three of the seven candidates for the post have same-sex partners. The winner of that election cannot be consecrated without approval from the General Convention, which has a long history of deferring to dioceses' choice of leader. Griswold said last month it would create "definite difficulty" between the denomination and Anglicans if the California Diocese elects an openly gay bishop.

Hmmm. Sounds like the Episcopalians are experiencing a bit of a backlash from their gay agenda activities.
I think there will likely be a schism if California elects a gay Bishop.
Possibly the California church will be forced to select another Bishop or leave the Communion.
Nearly half the candidates for bishop for the California church are gay. I fear a schism may be inevitable.
They feel empowered by all this publicity and they're all about reform. They want to create the crisis in order to further their goal of full acceptance.
So I don't expect a mealy mouthed conclusion by this commission, representing the greater communion of Anglicans, to alter their need to seize the moment and stick it to the conservatives.
Three out of seven is a very telling number.
Another big question is how do you manage to stay an Episcopal priest after you begin to openly co-habitat with another man as a mate?
II Timothy
4: 3 For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, will accumulate teachers for themselves because they have an itch to hear something new. 4 They will turn away from hearing the truth and will turn aside to myths.
It is a step in the right direction. Hopefully, the ECUSA has learned from their terrible mistake in ordaining Eugene Robinson, and will not repeat that error.
I don't know the answers to your questions. I'm just a Lutheran (ELCA), and know how I'd feel if this came to pass in our synod. "Concerned" doesn't begin to describe it.
But it appears the California church has not. Considering the size of the Gay population in California they should form their own church. (Can you imagine the rights they would come up with?)
I am Roman Catholic, so for the most part our gays stay in the closet.
I am fairly sure we have a gay Bishop somewhere but at least he does not openly live with a partner.
There is something to be said for being discrete if you are going to be a heretic.
Well so this is fulfilling a prophesy. So its OK then.
I don't share your optimism. (See post #6) We'll see on May 6th, won't we? Send me a ping then if you read about and think of it, OK?
It is time to practice a little biblical separation:
2 Cor. 6:14 Be you not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion has light with darkness?
Rom 16:17 Now I beseech you, brothers, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you have learned; and avoid them.
2 John 10 If there come any to you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
For Eugene it's worse than that.
First he divorces his wife and his children and then he takes up with a lover man.
Now how does this guy, not only stay a priest, but merit a promotion to bishop?
Replacing ten commandments with ten cautions.
The Catholics have been known to have a few pedofiles in their clergy!
Now how does this guy, not only stay a priest, but merit a promotion to bishop?
I guess he must be a Liberal.
Liberals promote failure.
The Episcopalians have taken to parading their perverts. Not to mention promoting them to executive positions.
