"Most people believe immigration benefits America."

Even legal immigration doesn't benefit America if most of the immigrants are uneducated from third world countries, or countries that don't share our values. In other words, inviting folks in who have no intention of assimilating into our culture doesn't help...

IMO, the repubs are done. They have no backbone to run this country.

Absolutely correct. It disgusts me to think what could have been.

Unless something dramatic happens, our country will move closer to a civil war so the people can take back what is theirs.

Right again. Think about what is happening:

1) San Francisco is leading the way for communities who resolve to ignore Federal Law, thus separating themselves from the nation law by law.

2) Illegal immigrants have been ordained as the homeless of the 1990's. They can do no wrong, break no laws and the people defending them will spin the truth and redefine what is right and wrong. The MSM is complicit in this scheme and, the end result will be the Balkanization of The United States.

Try and have a nice weekend!!

He's not running for re-election. This is the real GWB.

Correct. Now we know how he was able to buy the first nomination run in 2000.

Promises, promises, promises....in the right ears.

The divide between Wall Street and Main Street has never been greater. And it will only continue to grow. If Hitlery had a brain she would simply commence a knife-fight against the illegal alien lobby...and laugh all the way to the Electoral College in '08. Any time a RINO such as McCain and Specter or fellow Rat such as Kennedy brayed about "immigration" she would be able to go straight to the high ground...and point to the immigrants here legally. And talk rule of law. The GOP would splinter. Even if she couldn't get anyone to forget how reprehensible and malicious she is to get defections from the GOP...the Base would go home, the positive results from her standpoint would be that no RINO in the GOP could again pose a risk to the RAT candidate....which will be her.

The fact is, the President and Rove have to know this is a likely outcome. And they are apparently okay with it coming to pass. This is in effect, a knowing betrayal of not just the Conservative Base, but as Hugh Hewitt has said, the WOT itself. Because letting the RATS into power ends it. Immediately.

Apparently we are finding out which is really more important to this President.

The illegal alien fanaticism, 'compassionate conservatism' that lurked underneath the President's rhetoric was not that hard to discern...and appears to be far, far more important to him than retaining a governing majority...and the WOT.

Was there an amnesty of illegals before Reagan? Maybe it could be argued that he didn't know how it would turn out. Or that there was a Democrat majority back then. People this time probably expect the president to know better from previous experience.

Don't forget that 9/11 occurred since than as well.

In addition, the mass marches of illegals calling for the taking over of America should of been a clue that something is wrong here.

Maybe if enough Republican senators and congressmen bite the dust in November, Karl Rove will realize that courting future "illegal immigrant" voters to expand the Hispanic base of the Republican Party is probably a very costly strategy, especially if in the process the growing conservative majority turns hard against the president.

If the GOP loses the House or Senate in November, Rove is not going to care about the immigration issue anymore.

In fact, I predict, after November, neither party is going to mention illegal immigration for another six or eight years.

You're absolutely right I left that part out, you're a liberal global capitalist, worried about nothing other than how you make your next dollar and willing to throw away the sovereignty of the U.S. in order to get it.

You're even worse than the "civil rights" illegal lovers.

You do realize of course that all the talk about our economy collapsing without the illegals is garbage since many of them work at businesses that only cater to other illegals.

If you don't believe by all means check out the various barrios they've created in different cities. They cater to their own illegal kind.

On Monday when these immigrants tear up the towns and cities because they don't have what they want, I hope you will change your mind.

The only reason people were protesting was the Democrats were fear-mongering and loading up legislation with poison pills that made immigrants scared of being jailed and/or deported. Certainly there are a few Mexican kooks who are pushing more radical agendas, but that is not the majority. The majority are just hard working people who want to earn a living and don't want to be imprision for trying to do that.

Uh, how does one commit political suicide, when by law he/she is prevented from running again anyway?

Talk to Hugh Hewitt. [ And see his forthcoming book, Painting the Map Red ] He destroys the Base's trust and support in him. And they simply stay home.

The polls we are seeing now are seriously bad country.

'06 and '08 turn into land-slides for the Left. He could even get impeached over some preposterous accusations. Feingold will spout off something.

The anti-Immigrant crowd are the biggest blow-hards I know. You don't care that our economy would be in the crapper without illegals? You think 4.7% unemployment is bad. You think adding 220K jobs a month is bad. You think economic growth is bad. Without a large flow of immigrants (both legal and unfortunately illegal) America would not be growing economically. We need young healthy workers, and us Americans are not producing enough kids to support it. I am not worried about MY next dollar, I am worried about my country's economic future. Something you have no clue about.

Unfortunately those of us in Texas should have seen this coming and maybe got the word out. He was buddy buddy with a lot of big-time campaign contributers, many of whom used illegal labor. It all fed right into his buddying up with Mexico during his time as Govenor (I don't expect a hostile relationship with a neighboring soverign nation, but I don't expect us to pick up the tab for their social/economic problems and refugees either).

We need a Conservative Party Caucus [RINOS not invited] to have a Woodshed meeting with the President...kept totally secret...and we need to have the President forced to change his position. Not explain. Not defend. Not rationalize. Not sermonize.

Change.

Or there will be a permanent divide.

We are seeing the real GWB. And as we saw from Harriet Meiers, to the Dubai ports debacle to this...in every case Administration flunkies haul out the same liberal race card as the Rats...and it is only getting more globalist elitist and more divorced from reality.

Yeah, and how about illegals only having to pay back taxes, no word of the draconian penalties which apply to Americans if they "forget" to pay the IRS for a few years?

In pure logical reasoning, Mexico is the greatest security threat America faces. Iran and North Korea pale in comparison, Mexico can tear us asunder, and will if not stopped.

the Bush administration appears willing to cave into the Democrats on the issue of amnesty.

What? Look again. GW has been pushing for amnesty (in any form, under any name) since January 20, 2001.
