What Bush fails to see at the border

By Ronald F. Maxwell

Published April 6, 2006

Dear President Bush, Perhaps you know me from my work. I wrote and directed the movies "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals." Walking Civil War battlefields, soaking up the letters and diaries of that generation, re-creating the world of our ancestors -- all this has given me a deep appreciation for our country. My dad was with the Army Air Corps in North Africa while your dad was in the Pacific. My French mother was liberated in Tunisia and became a lawful immigrant to the United States. For an American, my story is unique and typical at the same time.

You probably don't need to be reminded of the hostility and animus directed your way by most of the Hollywood community. Then again, I'm sure you don't take it personally. After all, they held Ronald Reagan in equal contempt. As one of the very few directors of major motion pictures who sees you in a different light, I implore you to listen seriously to what I have to say.

What is happening on the southern border is unprecedented. Not only in our own history, but in the history of the world. No country at any time anywhere has sustained the influx of tens of millions of foreigners across its borders. A wave of anti-American leftism is sweeping Latin America. A socialist radical may soon be elected as the president of Mexico, a country which officially encourages its emigrants to vote in Mexican elections, urging them to think of themselves as Mexican first and perhaps only.

[ Put it this way -- I'm reminded of Benedict Arnold, except this is far worse. Arnold wasn't a President. ]

Dubya must be Bubba Clinton with family values and beautiful wife..
Clinton sold us out to the Chinese, Dubyas selling us out to the World(Mexico).. For both are elite Globalists.. its not funny not funny at all..

The masses are oblivious they either love Clinton hate Dubya or vice versa.. The same result is happening and they are oblivious.. Even HERE on FR some are oblvious..

Two sides to the same coin, while the Emperor hasn't worn any clothes since Ronald Reagan.

Nothing stops the bleeding -- not even massive marches in the open by illegal marauders just DARING law enforcement or the invisible "Homeland (In)Security" to do something about it.

Beautifully written...I fear to no avail. It's sickening. i have never felt so powerless. And yes, I have made all the phone calls and sent the emails...

Now, maybe I can get some sleep tonite, er, this morning as I have needed a sane article from a sane person to read. This is stressing us out and we are loosing sleep. We cannot believe Pres. Bush's position on this issue. Allowing lawbreakers to break the law is against religious teachings. Rush needs to be in front of Congress and question each of their flimsy reasons to change the current law and not enforce what law we have now. We need to see each of our Congressional members while they are on break....if they are not taking trips to Europe.

No doubt about it, this country is up the creek without a paddle. When people are told to NOT wear the flag, fly the flag, or the colors of the flag in this country, something is seriously wrong.

Yes, Bush knows, as do all our "leaders" -- they've sold us out to this notion of globalism. Well, too bad for us. No one is listening in DC anymore, not more than a handful at any rate.

The sad part is we're losing this war to a bunch of illiterate peasants. And the battle isn't being lost in the street, it's being surrendered in the U.S. Senate.

The elites in both parties two decades ago bought in the idea of merging the countries of north america as europe is doing. In europe the thing was to be done legally from the top down. in the USA the thing was to be done illegally from the bottom up with illegals. The quid pro quo would be that europe would include turkey and the North america would include mexico.

That is correct. NAFTA verifys that, then came CAFTA, the next step is "The Free Trade Area of the Americas," FTAA. That is the plan for illegally bringing North America, and South America together.

I believe you will come to be seen, in the years and decades to come, as the President who saved (or lost) the Southwest of the United States."

I believe Bush will be remembered as the president that caused the U.S. to lose it's sovereignty and power.

I believe Bush is his daddy's son.

I believe unchecked [illegal] immigration will bring The U.S. to it's knees and we will be forced into the world government with a whimper instead of a fight.

NAFTA verifys that

Wasn't NAFTA sold as a benefit to the United States. We would sell our goods there and illegal immigration would stop because Mexico would flourish under globalism and free trade.

Americans have been had and nobody seems to care.

"Amnesty for all and free trade/democracy solves all the world problems."

I don't know what these elites are smoking, but I would like to try some of it. Oh I forgot, the elites are smoking 100 dollar bills.

This is Rome 450 AD gentlemen, but hey atleast we are living in the peak of civilization, atleast for a couple hundred years. I wonder if kids in school in 2000 years will be talking about how the American Empire fell to barbarian invaders in 2020.

This is a brilliant piece, and the response will be as arrogant as it has always been: "Pull the lever, sheep - do you want Hillary to be elected?"

I was thinking more on the line of "You don't want your taxes raised? Lemmings, I am going to cut your taxes, now jump with me."

That along with the usual childish name-calling (racist xenophobe).
