RAPE KILLER GUILTY (illegal immigrant day laborer raped, murdered woman in home, bragged about it)
NY POST ^ | 4/6/06 | CATHY BURKE With Post Wire Services

Posted on 04/06/2006 2:38:28 AM PDT by Liz

It took a jury less than four hours yesterday to convict an illegal immigrant of raping and murdering a vivacious stay-at-home suburban mom - and then luridly bragging about it to her friends and family on her stolen cellphone.

Douglas Herrera Castellanos faces life behind bars without parole at his sentencing next month.

The widower of New City mom-of-two Mary Nagle - who battled tooth and nail before succumbing to the brute in a grisly struggle - burst into tears and wrapped his arms around his sisters-in-law.

Jurors found 30-year-old Herrera guilty of every one of the 15 counts he faced - including first-degree murder and rape........

Rockland County Medical Examiner Lone Thanning told jurors.......she lost part of her ear and tufts of hair in the fight with Herrera.

The most heart-wrenching moment of the two-week trial, however, was widower Dan Nagle's sobbing testimony.....

In lurid, frightening testimony, several women testified how they got phone calls after Nagle's death - made from her cellphone by a caller who spoke lewdly about what had happened to the mom. One of those who got the call was Nagle's own sister.

"He kept saying pornographic, dirty things to me," said Anna Solicito, a friend of Nagle's. "He was very calm, very matter-of-fact, like he enjoyed what he was saying."

Herrera, whose visa expired five years ago.... claimed he couldn't remember a thing - except waking up next to a corpse.

"He was a day laborer the Nagles brought in to do work around the house."

I could be wrong, but my recollection is that he was provided by a contractor, they did not hire him directly.

He's scum and good for the jury for convicting him. It's only sad we cannot rid the world of him because that would make it a better place. Now we have to feed, clothe, and house him for the rest of his life. Which hopefully will be a short and miserable one.

"Douglas Herrera Castellanos faces life behind bars without parole at his sentencing next month."

It looks like there is no death penalty being considered. And THAT - is intolerable!

The irony is that, even in an American prison, he will live better than he could in Mexico......

Hmmmmmm, maybe not. There's lots and lots of really bad guys in prisons (/sarc) just waiting for this scumbag to show his face. And the guys on the chain gang don't play tiddly-winks. Things might get hot in prison---and it won't be from putting Tabasco sauce on his enchilada.

And many of our political and religious leaders want more of criminals such as he to invade this country.

If this is the case, and the contractor knew he was hiring an illegal, I hope the husband sues the contractor into oblivion...

Jon Cornyn made a point of this in the Senate debate (see it on C-Span).

"Douglas Herrera Castellanos faces life behind bars without parole . . . "

No. Definitely he should be put to death, the sooner the better. He should receive as much mercy as he showed the victim. I feel like throwing up.

I can't figure out from the article where this murder took place. I assume it's New York state.....where I believe the death penalty was abolished. Am I correct?

As far as I am concerned if any illegal does a crime like this in our country....death penalty immediately...he is not allowed an appeals process....

Douglas Herrera Castellanos ..... He's from Guatemala. Not Mexico. Since he got a visa to come here and somehow has the name Douglas he must have some decent family background. Probably not an Indian as are most Guatemalans who come here legally and illegally. Plus his last name means from Castilla Spain

You might be right, but then again there are many tattooed M-13 guys in prison that will welcome him into the fold.

I thought I had read somewhere (where, I can't find now) that they had brought him in for the day. But your take better fits with some of the reports I just reviewed.

If you are correct, her husband should file a civil suit against the contractor and the local DA should file charges making the ccontractor an accomplice of DBI (Death by Illegal).

No, we won't see Jorge W. Bush, Juan McCain, Roger Mahony and the other proponents of open borders hang their heads in shame over the failure to guard our borders that allowed this monster in to rape and murder an American citizen.

Huh where is your outrage over the native born American who had killed a family in Oregon and then took the kids to North Dakota, molesting them along the way. If Teddy Roosevelt hadn't let his descendents in, that family may still be alive today.

Human scum come in all ethnicities, but it seems you and others on this thread wish to judge a whole ethnicity by the actions of one.

And here's the lovely victim with her husband in happier days before an uncontrolled border ruined their happy family life:

Yeah but he saved money by hiring an illegal.
