WASHINGTON, (AP) --
Sen. Russ Feingold, a potential presidential candidate, said Tuesday he supports giving gays and lesbians the right to marry, again positioning himself to the left of possible 2008 rivals.
"Gay and lesbian people in our country are fighting a mean-spirited movement to harm them and to discriminate against them," Feingold, D-Wis., said in a telephone interview. "I stand with them against that movement, and I'm proud to stand with them."
Feingold said he decided to express his support for gay marriage in response to a Wisconsin constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and civil unions, which will appear on the state ballot in November.

I swear I heard a Democrat say the other day that the Republicans bought this issue up in 2004 as a scare tactic to rally their base. Will they get blamed again?

He's to the left of Wisconsin voters. He's decided there's no harm in pandering the moonbats that constitute the Democratic Party base.

Feingold is a brain-dead liberal... but we already know that! Once we are rid ourselves of the old, outdated and traditional chains of male/female marriage, we are going to have to throw it all out and start over! But start where? All bets are off as any attempt to limit the definition is arbitrary and begs a challenge. Think what this will do for the polygamists, "fundamentalist" Mormon sects in the west will demand recognition for sure, the effect will be... marriage is destroyed as a legal institution!
