ATLANTA As the debate over the 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States continues in the Senate, a large group is getting overlooked: people who enter on legal visas and then never leave.
Known as visa overstays, these visitors make up between a third and a half of the illegal immigrants in this country, according to government reports between 4 million and 6 million people.

If the Congress and President grant any form of amnesty to the 11 to 20 million illegal aliens in the country it will be the SECOND AMNESTY during this administration. The first was Section 245(i), and was passed in 2001. See:
What Section 245(i) actually does.

If I recall correctly, it was Clinton the granted 245(i) just before leaving office.

It's amazing, we applied in August 2002 for my 26 year old stepdaughter to immigrate here, and the process will take 10 years, and another 5 for her to obtain citizenship. The illegals already here will receive their Green Cards in 6 years, and be eligible for citizenship in another 5 for a total of 11 years. President Bush has stated the illegal aliens will have to stand in line behind those who have already applied to immigrate here legally, but their 11 years compared to my stepdaughters 15 years makes me ask who is the man behind the curtain? In the interim American law does not allow my stepdaughter to visit her mom in the US. What ever happened to truth, justice and the American way?

The current estimate is that 60% of our 16 million illegal aliens are border jumpers and 40% are visa over stayers. Who to my thinking would be more educated, English speaking and financially able

BTW, my stepdaughter is in the First Family Priority category. I pity those poor souls below her.

Immigration policy is a joke, and not a very funny one at that.

Your situation is an outrage. George Bush and the US Senate are mocking responsible people who follow the rules. Your experience is the same as millions of other families

The illegal immigrant talking points are, "But what are you going to do with the 12 million illegals that are here now"?
My answer is, make sure that it doesn't become 13 million and then we'll talk.

Are reporters THIS STUPID!
Overstays ARE illegals.
The difference is that overstays are "inspected" at the border and have a better chance at the current rolling amnesty than the "run for the border" types.
The MSM is in overdrive to dissemble today.
I suspect because they are loosing the PR war.

Your answer is the question that should be asked to all who are running for re-election.

"What ever happened to truth, justice and the American way?" There's no room for truth, justice and the American way in the New World Order. Truth, well maybe we need to ask more about Flight #800 or the OKC attack. Our Justice System has been renamed the Legal System. The American way, sorry but with the growth of multiculturalism there's no room for anything that's not politically correct. Don't ask about our national sovereignty or our border security unless you want more reasons to continue your mental depression. Enjoy reading

Let's see, our politicians prefer those who break the law, and could care one one iota for those trying to obey the law. For some reason they remind me of the crowd which preferred Barabbas over Christ.

Regardless! America is nothing but talk and B/S and it sacrifices its young men for politicians who have no courage or backbone if you wish. America is in for some very dark days.

Mohammad Atta and Marwan Al-Shehhi overstayed their visas.
I have heard it too many times that we should have jumped on them right away for overstaying their visas or not properly changing their status to students and what not. They were just two people out of millions.

When you purposely overstay a visa, you join the group of illegals. The only difference is that INS has a database to identify the expired visas.
