Horrible for twisters to happen at night. You don't really have a chance.

NE Arkansas, per some reports, has been hit by this same storm front, too -- tornadoes and winds.

I am watching the weather just North of me right now. Southern Madison County (Jackson, Tenn)in a tornado warning right now and expecting it to head into McNairy County, Tennessee. Caruthersville, MO, has been struck pretty hard also. Dyersburg, Tennessee, is reporting significant damage as is parts of Fayette County, Tenn, and there is a tornado warning in Fayette County as I type. Pretty active night and I got two hours before the cell West of here gets to me.

Here at Maigrey Manor, we had hail larger than marbles, smaller than golf balls.

It looks like the next cell will go just south of Memphis, hitting the conservative county of Desoto, in MS.

I was kept up all night by the lightning (in WNC) and noticed that it seemed to be a huge system because while it was hitting all around here I could could also see it lighting up way off in the distance looking like what we used to call "heat lightning". We got some hail.

According to news 3 here in Memphis it's now up to 12, and more may be found with day light. 17 in all for the tri-state area. The Early Show just said 19. May our Lord comfort the grieving and heal the injured.

Take a look at this - Monthly Tornado Statistics

http://spc.noaa.gov/climo/torn/monthlytornstats.html

It shows how hard the US is getting hit by tornadoes already this year compared to previous years.
