DOOMSDAY: UT professor says death is imminent
The Gazette-Enterprise (Texas) ^ | April 2, 2006 | Jamie Mobley

AUSTIN — A University of Texas professor says the Earth would be better off with 90 percent of the human population dead.

“Every one of you who gets to survive has to bury nine,” Though his statements are admittedly bold, he’s not without abundant advocates. But what may set this revered biologist apart from other doomsday soothsayers is this: Humanity’s collapse is a notion he embraces.

Indeed, his words deal, very literally, on a life-and-death scale, yet he smiles and jokes candidly throughout the lecture. Disseminating a message many would call morbid, Pianka’s warnings are centered upon awareness rather than fear.

“This is really an exciting time,” he said Friday amid warnings of apocalypse, destruction and disease. Only minutes earlier he declared, “Death. This is what awaits us all. Death.” Reflecting on the so-called Ancient Chinese Curse, “May you live in interesting times,” he wore, surprisingly, a smile.

So what’s at the heart of Pianka’s claim?

6.5 billion humans is too many.

In his estimation, “We’ve grown fat, apathetic and miserable,” all the while leaving the planet parched.

The solution?

A 90 percent reduction.

That’s 5.8 billion lives — lives he says are turning the planet into “fat, human biomass.” He points to an 85 percent swell in the population during the last 25 years and insists civilization is on the brink of its downfall — likely at the hand of widespread disease.

“[Disease] will control the scourge of humanity,” Pianka said. “We’re looking forward to a huge collapse.”

This prof is hardly alone in believing that humanity is but a temporary, parasitic infection of a lovely green planet. We are a virus!

“Pianka is a GOD!”

He may be a god but he's not a God. So in this one article about a ultra liberal biologist, who no doubt endorses evolution, we have the word revered and a statement that he is a god. I'm sure they are so far from reality this doesn't even register with them.

"Three months of food is a 'stockpile'?"

Depends on who is deciding. I once read this is the first time in history where people didn't store large amounts of food. But if you have food set aside you are hardware to control, therefor I'm sure they will make it illegal eventually.

The only business I have within the boundaries of the City of Austin is the annual renewal of my Texas Professional Engineers License. If it wasn't for that, I would give Austin the same status that I give San Francisco - not part of the United States.

'One of the great ironies of history is that Marxism and liberalism have gained control of the US university system.'

that is because the professors live a very sheltered life, and have a mental disorder...

This actually a question for all.
I have seen a statistic (and I remember the source quoted it from some statistical abstract...I think it was CDC!). I use this quote alot I want to make sure of my sourcing.
The statistical quote is, 'median age of mortality for homosexuals with AIDs is in the low 40s, without AIDs is in the mid 40s. I remember being somewhat surprised as to how small the difference is ! (Come to think of it, I think Bob Bennett made a similar quote!)
Now given all the constant propaganda against how dangerous smoking is, (And by the way I DO NOT SMOKE and don't advocate it!) I bet the median age of mortality for smoking is no where near as low as being a homosexual.
(Also again I seem to remember the homosexual mortality statistics were just for males!)

Professor Pianka advocates the intentional use of airborne Ebola virus to reduce the human population by 90%.""

No matter the method advocated, this is the blueprint of The Wildlands Project. Look it up. They are serious. They don't care if it takes 100 years to accomplish, altho they want it sooner.

"Three months food, plus ammo."

I agree. Many years ago my moderately conservative economics professor uncle was proudly showing off his new, well stocked bomb shelter. My ex-military husband asked "where is your gun and ammunition?" Aunt responded they didn't have any. I answered "Well, how do expect to keep the people out who do?" There response was they had nice neighbors who would never do a thing like that. My husband and I just rolled our eyes.

It's always the nice unassuming neighbor you have to be weary of.

Save your valuable ammo for quail or something worthwhile.

Just tell the prof to hitch a ride from Teddy Kennedy.

“the most incredible class I ever had” and “Pianka is a GOD!”

One of the gods of comedy, maybe? I'd be ROFLMAO if I was there.

No one took Aum Shinrikyo seriously either -- until they set off a deadly gas bomb on the Tokyo subway!

When someone starts talking the way this guy (or Aum Shinrikyo) talks, it's "disregard them at your own risk" territory.

There are all sorts of nuts in this world.

I grew up in NYC, and I recall having seen pretty much all varieties on the streetcorners. You quickly learn to step around the raggedy manic loon with the spittle-caked beard who raves about the end of the world, the capitalist whatever, or, the "whatever" in general, as he tries to foist single-spaced mimeo sheets on passers-by.

This guy, however, is in a compltely different class. He, like Aum Shinrikyo, is to be taken seriously -- as a serious threat to the general welfare.

When someone with the apparent intelligence and skills and "connections" (i.e., access to university research facilities, etc.) starts making noise about how we need to find the most effective biological munition to set loose upon humanity, we are no longer talking about the "streetcorner prophet", and the biggest fool would be the one who laughs him off as a "funny ho-ho" nutcase.

I'm sure a lot of people chuckled at a certain deranged Little Austrian a while ago.

Some nuts you laugh at -- others you hope the government steps in to intercede and prevent them from following through on their agenda.

I wonder if anyone laughed at Ted Koszynski before he decided to teach the world a lesson? I rather suspect so.

This guy is beyond creepy.
