Who cares. She came home with her head attached to her body.
Daniel Pearl and Daniel Berg had a different outcome.
I begrudge the girl nothing. She is/was a naive useful idiot. Hopefully, she is now wiser.

SILL waiting to see HER say all this. NOT some spokesman. Fair enough. Until then, best to withhold (or at least qualify) all speculation.

What I'm getting from this is that she's still anti-war and anti-military, but has had enough of a reality-check to feel and express gratitude toward everyone who worked for her release, even the military. Maybe a liberal who just took her first step toward becoming a conservative.
I think the US govt should start making it clear that in future no soliders' lives will be risked to rescue civilians who insert themselves into a war zone. The only exceptions would be those who are working in contractor or govt jobs supporting the military effort.

I'll apologize. I must admit I followed her case rather closely and was shocked to hear her interview in the Party's headquarters but the Arab garb.
Perhaps she was still under duress. She will tell us the whole story eventually.

something tells me they didnt have to force her too hard

Is it just me, or does it look like she had time to stop at a salon in Baghdad and get some red highlights for herself?

"Things that I was forced to say while captive are now being taken by some as an accurate reflection of my personal views. They are not. The people who kidnapped me and murdered Alan Enwiya are criminals, at best. They robbed Alan of his life and devastated his family. They put me, my family and my friends--and all those around the world, who have prayed so fervently for my release--through a horrific experience. I was, and remain, deeply angry with the people who did this." Thank you, Jill. Now please put on a wet t-shirt to erase the months-long vision of you in a burka.

...well I dunno..she might have actually been under the gun when she said those things...at the Air Force Academy they tought us in POW training to say such if it meant the difference between life and death...I'm inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt for the moment

I feel the same, I don't think most posting here understands exactly what she's been thru.

Excellent. I thought I saw her wearing the rags in Germany. that would have raised my concern about her statements. Glad to see she is not a sympathizer.

Oh yeah, sure, hypocrite. Damn if we appologize, damn if we are dupes. It's the old pharisean evil game of point scoring and ignoring the truth.
Journalists never appologize, have no possible neutrality in this war on terrorism yet pretend they do, but we should appologize?
I'll appologize to myself first for being a dupe of Jill and the media still, despite my suspicions.
It's fair to say that being in the dark as to their shenanigans would be a nice way to trap either way we go, trusting or distrusting. It's the convenience of media cover ups, laundering priviledges and demands of devaluing others by asking them to appologize.

"I was, and remain, deeply angry with the people who did this."Dead giveaway of a sentence (among others) written not by her but for her or dictated to her. Heck, but if you can fake sincerity you have it made!

Why is it you are so impatient for this rather plain looking woman to strip?
I didn't "want her to strip". I wanted her to demonstrate she had not gone over to the enemy. I am happy to see this is not the case.

AMEN to that.
And, her statement thanks the US Military, which is more than we can say for the those rescued hostages from a couple weeks ago.
I hope she is a little more skeptical now about the claims of the other side.
