Harris' Senate campaign 'imploding'
Orlando Sentinel ^ | 4/1/06 | Jim Stratton

Posted on 04/01/2006 4:14:49 AM PST by aynrandfreak

The last of U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris' key staffers appear ready to abandon her campaign for the U.S. Senate in a wave of resignations expected to start this weekend.

Sources close to the campaign said Friday that the defections would touch virtually every level of her operation.

Harris, who is running against Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson, is likely to lose her chief political strategist, her campaign manager, her spokeswoman, her director of field operations and even a traveling aide who helps hand out stickers at campaign appearances.

It is the latest and most dramatic indication so far that her campaign is on the verge of collapse.

"I've never seen staffers go like this," said David Johnson, a Republican pollster and consultant. "It's just imploding."

Calls and e-mails to the campaign were not returned Friday night, but sources said Harris met with staffers earlier in the day to tell them she would be hiring new people to replace those who had already left.

Campaign workers could stay, she said, but they would have to recommit themselves to the Senate race. She gave them until 5 p.m. Sunday to decide.

Two sources familiar with what happened at the meeting said Harris, in part, blamed the staff for the chaos that has consumed the campaign. Those sources did not want to be identified because they were not authorized to speak for the campaign.

Being faithful is far more important than getting involved in politics.

She's doing her part keeping the unemployment rate in Florida ridiculously low.

I think that Florida has the lowest unemployment rate in the lower 48.

Harris will have to import her workers.

Is that sort of like a reformed smoker?

It's only April, and all the "smart" people want Harris to fail.

That sounds more like wishfull thinking then an actual campaign strategery, right now we have no one else that is running that Harris would conceed to, unless of course everyone of the "smart" people want Nelson to win....

Hmmmmm???

KH is one of the saddest figures along the landscape: she doesn't know she is a joke. Indeed, she appears to have almost no idea that she just can't be taken seriously.

Oh, I'm a supporter of Katherine Harris and of Tom Gallagher for Governor.

I'll vote for any democrat if Crist wins the primary 4 governor. Crist is too rino for me. He's a secular humanist and I hate that b.s.

Folks, you'll continue to see that photo of Cong. Harris on horseback on every thread regarding her candidacy from now to eternity. Maybe multiple times on a thread. Ignore it and the droolers who post it.

Those who want this woman's candidacy to fail will continue to post it on every thread they can as a weapon against her.

I don't know when that picture was taken, but I'm sure it was before she was elected to Congress. There are plenty of photos available of this petite lady congresswoman looking as intelligent, dignified, honorable and pleasant as she is in person. I'm happy to see these more up-to-date pictures being posted by Harris supporters.

By repeatedly posting the horseback photo, the poster is inciting Harris-haters to comment that she is a "slut" and other sexist insults.....and it seems to be working....(but just with a few)......as the photo DOES draw low-life comments like fly-paper attracts flies and other nasty insects.

I think most of us are beginning to catch on what's at work on the Harris threads.

Let's just keep positive and support this courageous woman who is willing to take on the entrenched Hillary-lover Nelson, the Dems, the liberals, the socialists, the commie rats, the anti-war loonies, the anti-American sociopaths, the powerful Florida media, the Dade and Broward County rabidly-liberal condo commandos retired from NYC and the entire Florida teachers union.....plus a handful of anti-Harris freepers that creepily just can't get past the sight of boobs on horseback if their multiple posts here are any indication.

No it wouldn't.

I feel the same way.

Do these idiots realize that they can make a constructive critique of someone without drudging through the gutter?

Well, how are you supposed to look riding a horse, or for that matter doing anything else? Back in 2000, they concocted a 100 & 1 Dalmatians photo of her and she was ridiculed for weeks.

She looks great in that photo, shove it down there throats. A few more recent ones would be nice, and I think the one with her standing at a conference table and another with a FR'r is I good start.

Her stirrups are way too long. Hope she's a rider and not just a passenger.

Actually her stirrups are set up to gallop. Since she would be standing in them as the horse ran, I think they are just right for what she wants.
I also think she is a ardent rider, this kind of exercise can keep a lot of women her age in great shape. My wife is same way, same great figure since junior high and we are both close to 50. I won't say what I look like now, just be assured, guys, young and old, still check her out.

Now for all you naysayers about KH running, you should consider what the ramifications are when you see the RNC and the MSM deliberately lambasting her because of ....her looks instead of her stance. If you think she looks slutty, you have looked at not what she represents to people, but at the shell it comes in. If we consider that on a number of critters in Congress, half of them would be parking lot attendents in New Jersey or workers at any of the Lane Bryants around the country.

KH looks spectacular in any setting, smart, articulate and someone who will represent FL. with dignity and pride. Whether she can win is up to the people of FL to support, not any of us who are on the outside, all we can do is send her money in support.

I don't think it should be a matter of faith.

If faith is the only thing propelling this campaign, then she might as well throw in the towel right now.

Personally, I think that this administration and the morons in the Senate, i.e. Specter, Graham, DeWine, etc., are intent on p**ssing away control of that body anyway, so it doesn't really matter whether they support a lost cause.

As unsalvagable as the Harris campaign is, it still probably makes more sense to support her than some of the other losers that have a better chance of getting elected this election cycle, e.g. Dewine, Burns, and the abominable Lincoln Chafee.
