Illegal immigration is recognized by many U.S. Citizens to be a threat to our nation. It's is a balkanizing process. It disrupts communities. It places financial strain on regions of our nation. It costs our nation tens of billions of dollars a year, if not hundreds. It is destroying our health care system. It disrupts the education system financially and in the teaching process due to language problems. It can place English speaking children at a disadvantage, in that spanish children receive elevated resources while English speaking kids take a back seat in the early years. There are problems of serious crime, multiple identities and recidivism.
These are serious issues, but let's ignore them. Remember, the apologists for illegal immigrants do it all the time. For once lets join them. (temporarily)
Right now lets spend a few moments exploring the number one rationalization for allowing the United States to be invaded and over-run by another nation's populace.
And what is that rationalization? Well of course, it's the "fact" that Mexicans only want a chance to earn a living for their families.
Think about that for a moment. You and I are being asked to allow our nation to be over-run, our language replaced, our neighbor's job and possibly your own given to a foreign national. We are being asked to pay their children's education. We are being asked to give them free health care. We are being asked to accept hospitals having to reduce services across the board, in order to recoup the expenditures for which hospitals are not reimbursed. Not only do you pay for illegal aliens health care, your own is being savaged in the process. You may not think so. That's okay. It is. All of this is asked, or more accurately demanded of you and I. We have very little choice.
I have never read an article about starvation in Mexico. I have never read of children being taken to mass orphanages because parents couldn't support them. I have never seen expansive stories about homelessness. Although Tijuana's cardboard city is legendary, people seem to be able to survive over there. I don't like the fact that Mexico's government allows this, but I am powerless to do anything about it. Trashing my own nation is not an option as far as I am concerned.
Look, I don't like homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles, but I'm not going to invite ten of them into my house to fix it. The United States is your and my house.
What I see is a massive number of people who wanted to live a better life, and decided to take that life from us. As your tax dollars go to pay for these people, that is exactly what is happening. They are taking from us. Lets be clear about this. These folks were not dying. They were not in danger of losing their family. They were not in danger of starving. What we are talking about, is a bunch of people who wanted a better life. That's it. That's all it amounted to.
How about you folks? It's all relative. I mean you're not dying. You're not in danger of losing your family. You're not in danger of starving. What we are talking about here is a better life. Do you want a better life? That's it. That's all we're talking about here.
Under the current policy of the United States, foreign nationals are entitled to a better life. Unless we're a racist nation, U.S. Citizens should be entitled to a better life also. As we have seen, breaking laws is an approved method of achieving a better life. It's okay for people to break into our nation. People can work in violation of U.S. laws. People are entitled to free health care for their whole family, and all children are entitled to a free education. That this can be achieved is proof positive that crime does pay, and all it takes to justify this is that you want a better life for you and your family.
This is rather liberating. I've wanted a new home for quite some time. Tomorrow morning I can go outside, take one look at the beautiful day, get in my car and go shopping. By tomorrow evening I'll have picked out a great new house, where I plan to move in. I'll pack up and move in on the following day. The next day I'll pick out a new car on the local dealer's lot and demand the keys. If I show up at the door, they'll have to serve me. Our current health care polices for illegal immigrants have proven that.
If I want more income, I'll just go to the local bank and have one of my kids walk up to the teller and demand $100,000. After all, the children of illegal immigrants are given a $100,000 education for free. When that runs out, I make certain to have had another kid who can walk up to the teller.
You know, this illegal immigration thing is looking better all the time. I take that headline back. I think it's the obstructionists like myself who have been depantsed. Who could argue against what the apologists for illegal immigrant have been backing for decades. I think they may be on the right track after all.
Hey folks, there's going to be a party at my new home on the 17th, I'll post the address, date and time later so all my friends with new homes, new cars and lots of cash can drop by.
U.S. flags optional of course...
Ya know...i've been readin' about this immigration debacle intensely for about a week now...been aware of it for years i might add....seen it with my own eyes at the border in San Diego back in 1985...this stuff has been planned out for a while...i honestly believe that.
Take Communist China for example...i railed against our companies investing over there many years ago...now we are at a point we can't turn back...same as the illegals...we have so many that our spineless pols tell us that we are overwhelmed and can't do anything about the estimated 11 million or so... does anyone see this as a plan....maybe i am paranoid...i'm sure someone will post that i am a nut...but maybe some will see my point.
I feel like writing a long vanity to get my thoughts down and in order...maybe others have the same idea...stuff i used to try and steer clear of because i didn't want to grasp at tin foil hat nutter stuff....but some of the things i have seen in that last 10 years make me question who is really running this country...if not the world.....i will think more on this.
rant off////
The Senate and the House are ignoring your misinfo.
In fact, I know more about the quotas than you do because I use the internet to look that information up while you keep yourself ignorant.
Whereas I know exactly what the H2B qouta is and know what the current discussions in Congress are, you never heard of it.
Whereas I know what the H5A quota will be and how Congress arrived at that number, you never heard of it.
You are contradicted by the fact that the illegals live an open life and participate extensively in full view of law enforcement and society.
Regarding Atta's status you really need to educate yourself on SEVIS, CIPRIS, and how they relate to the first WTC bombing.
See #145
If you are looking for data on misdemeanors, there is no well of information.
If we slam our borders shut and deport all illegals at this point, it will cause a societal meltdown of epic proportions in Mexico, as well as rampant instability.
With a large portion of the Northern half of South America going Communist, (Oil rich to boot) it would be absolutely dangerous to alienate Mexico from our society. Their most likely solution would be to convert, or buy into Communism.
President Bush has insight that most ignorant purist isolationists refuse to consider, nor would not if it was blatantly obvious. It was the fore mentioned economic instability that brought 1917's Russia to murder their leaders and blindly embrace Lennin's twisted ideology.
We truly live in dangerous times and the majority of conservatives here are ignorant of the obvious outcome.
Although you may not know it, there is a wide array of guest worker programs in the US, not to mention the world.

Thanks for proving my point.
On the contrary. Those who argue here for border security are largely aware that one potential outcome would be a revolution in Mexico. There are other, somewhat less likely and more palatable outcomes, too. Nonetheless, there is a respectable argument that the relative economic and political fragility in Mexico argues for more, rather than less border security. (This has been discussed in depth here at FR and elsewhere.)
The other extreme, fully opening the borders to northbound traffic, and providing legalized status and social welfare benefits would threaten political stability in the United States. There are a few folks who think that line has already been crossed, and the events of this past week tend to support that view.
In any event, the disagreements on these immigration threads, when you get past the snarky ad-hominems and non-sequiturs, is not based on ingorance of the fundamentals, but on strategy and ideology. IE, in what order should the various problems be addressed, and with what energy?
Sorry. My post was a bit snarky.
You seem to be trying to make a point, but I really can't figure out what it could be. I just responded to your little statistical sleight-of-hand with what I had hoped was a small bit of good-natured humor.
To be clear, every cop knows, and most criminology academics believe, that in any given population, a small group of people (let's call them criminals) are responsible for most serious crimes. So, if you deduct the criminals from a given population, the remaining population will have a relatively low crime rate, regardless of other factors. That's what you seemed to be doing with your peach-picker analogy -- artifically 'gaming' the numbers to get the figure that you wanted.
Anyway, there is an explanation for the high incarceration rates of illegal aliens in California state prisons and LA county jails, and it has nothing to do with tarring the 'peach pickers' or resorting to fantasies about 'racist cops'. Can you think of what it is?
I'm gonna give you the stage and let you explain it to me. If I were to reply now, I'm afraid it would prejudice you.
So do speeders on the highway but it doesn't make it legal. Hookers parade down the open roads. Doesn't make prostitution legal.
Speeders on the highway do not speed in full view of law enforcement. Well, some do, but they get tickets.
It's not a penis. I have my kids' Hot Wheels in my pocket.
I was referring to the fact that even terrorists contribute to the economy during their illegal stays here. It really wasn't a great point of mine, but your argument is very weak. Spend some time in southern CA and then tell me again whether Ivory Tower Experts should determine what is best for America. We are proud of the Mexican influence on our state's heritage. We love our Hispanic-origin citizens. We despise the Mexican illegal presence here and it is ruining our lives.
Atta doesn't hsve anything to do with mexicans.
I notice that you're posting comments to people and they're not bothering to respond further. I've discussed these matters with you long enough.
I explained to you what the situation is in California, and all you can do is wrap yourself in stats that contradict reality, or look at reality from a point of view that completely ignores our actual jail and prison populace.
Most recently you've attempted to morph the discussion to visa quotas. Your assumption on whether I know what the particular classifications are, is irrelevent to me.
Why don't you make a few more charges of racism and ignorance and we'll call it a day.
