Princeton University sociologist Douglas S. Massey reports that 62 percent of illegal immigrants pay income taxes (via withholding) and 66 percent contribute to Social Security. Forbes magazine notes that Mexican illegals aren't clogging up the social-services system: only 5 percent receive food stamps or unemployment assistance; 10 percent send kids to public schools.

Economist Larry Kudlow praises Hispanic entrepreneurship: "According to 2002 Census Bureau data, Hispanics are opening businesses at a rate three times faster than the national average. In addition, there were almost 1.6 million Hispanic-owned businesses generating $222 billion in revenue in 2002."

Total crime and property crime in California are half what they were in 1980; violent crime has fallen more than a third. The state's Hispanic population during that time has increased 120 percent.

The United States somehow has managed to absorb 10 million to 20 million illegal immigrants not only without turning into Animal Farm, but while cranking up the most impressive economic recovery in two decades and the most prolonged period of declining crime in a century all in the teeth of the post-9/11 recession, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the double-whammy hurricane season of 2005.
I think that there is some sort of mystical significance to the story of Chicken Little having been made into a movie during this period of time in our history.

Hmmm Name calling right in the title. Guess I better rethink and agree. I wouldn't want to be inferior to such greatness.

"...10 percent send kids to public schools."
WTH? How in the heck does one figure that?
To: Luis Gonzalez
Get ready for the usual hyperbolic anti-immigrant knee jerkers.
They believe that only statistics that support the anti-immigrant side should be posted. No rational debate should be allowed.

When someone's very first act in the USA is breaking one of our laws then they are not someone I want in my country. You can go off on all the apologistic rants you want and you can call me a racist all day long, but illegal immigrants, ALL OF THEM, are CRIMINALS and it is CRIMINAL to let them stay here. After last week's protests with all the Mexican flags flying it is not a misnomer to say that we are being invaded. If these CRIMINALS were so hot to be Americans then where was the sea of US flags? NO, it was a sea of red flags and Mexican flags. Hell, we're not just being invaded, we're being COLONIZED.
