Mexican flag burned after week of protests
Associated Press Mar. 31, 2006 07:10 AM
Tensions over immigration got a little heated Thursday in Apache Junction.
A Mexican flag was brought to school by a Hispanic student in response to what he said was a racist remark directed at him the day before. After he and other students raised the flag on the school's flagpole, the newspaper said another group of students took it down and burned it.
The burning and ensuing shoving match between the two groups of students happened before most students arrived at the school.
The school's principal said all six students involved will be disciplined.
Security was beefed up after the incident but there were no other problems at the school Thursday.
I commend the burners.
Thank you for that comment - finally some logic in all this.
The Palis, Pakis, Iraqis and whoever who burn our flag, as much as I hate to see it, are generally burning poorly made imitations that were not flying over their own lands.
In the case at hand, the flag was raised on US lands, on PUBLIC school grounds, OVER the US Flag in a specific and calculated act of agression through symbolicly placing the US subordinate to the Mexican flag. Someone among those who planned this KNEW darned well what they were doing.
I'm just waiting for the "shot" heard round-the world (or at least across our nation. And right now - with Bush playing nicey-nicey with Fox - GW is starting to look like a two-faced traitor to me.....
Now does anyone here think that flag deserved a pardon? It needed to be burned and any foreign flag flown over the United States in defiance of our Sovereignty deserves the same. And anyone who would dare to do such an act does not deserve to breath American air.
I am ill from looking at this picture.
A high school in Longmont, CO is not allowing the U.S. flag to be flown, and they are confiscating the U.S. Flag because it is inflamatory. Only in Longmont...better known as the poor part of Boulder, CO. From a Denver news site:
Students Who Want To Fly American Flags Walk Out Of School
Skyline Students Say Their Flags Were Confiscated
LONGMONT, Colo. -- More than a dozen students walked out of Skyline High School Friday morning to protest a ban that doesn't allow the American flag to be flown on school grounds.
Several students said that they were upset that Mexican flags can be waved around but that American flags couldn't. They said that school officials confiscated their American flags because it has become inflammatory because of recent immigration issues.
7NEWS is talking with school officials and will have more information as it becomes available.

I am afraid to take my blood pressure right now. They not only flew their flag, but put the American flag under it and upside down. How can we allow these pigs to stay in this country another minute. Those who are resposible for this violation of our sovereignty must be deported immediately. This cannot stand!
My prayers are with those who recognize this travesty for what it is. If anyone is offended by having to stand under an American Flag, they need to be shown the door to the border.
What is happening to our republic?
"Several students said that they were upset that Mexican flags can be waved around but that American flags couldn't. They said that school officials confiscated their American flags because it has become inflammatory because of recent immigration issues."
These SOBs need to be defunded, de-jobbed and their faces and names spread around as the enemy sympathizers they are.
These kids walked out over their school's refusal to fly the American flag over an American School because it might offend some illegal aliens.
Maybe there is hope for America!
Good job.
I imagine it will lead to more confrontation.
I like it that they burned it. Saves all that talking. Speaks loud and clear.
Anyone here like the following official party platform plank on immigration? And anyone guess which party it comes from?
_______
Immigration
We affirm the integrity of the international borders of the United States and the Constitutional authority and duty of the federal government to guard and to protect those borders, including the regulation of the numbers and of the qualifications of immigrants into the country.
Each year approximately one million legal immigrants and almost as many illegal aliens enter the United States. These immigrants - including illegal aliens - have been made eligible for various kinds of public assistance, including housing, education, Social Security, and legal services. This unconstitutional drain on the federal Treasury is having a severe and adverse impact on our economy, increasing the cost of government at federal, state, and local levels, adding to the tax burden, and stressing the fabric of society. The mass importation of people with low standards of living threatens the wage structure of the American worker and the labor balance in our country.
We oppose the abuse of the H-1B and L-1 visa provisions of the immigration act which are displacing American workers with foreign.
We favor a moratorium on immigration to the United States, except in extreme hardship cases or in other individual special circumstances, until the availability of all federal subsidies and assistance be discontinued, and proper security procedures have been instituted to protect against terrorist infiltration.
We also insist that every individual group and/or private agency which requests the admission of an immigrant to the U.S., on whatever basis, be required to commit legally to provide housing and sustenance for such immigrants, bear full responsibility for the economic independence of the immigrants, and post appropriate bonds to seal such covenants.
The Constitution Party demands that the federal government restore immigration policies based on the practice that potential immigrants will be disqualified from admission to the U.S. if, on the grounds of health, criminality, morals, or financial dependence, they would impose an improper burden on the United States, any state, or any citizen of the United States.
We oppose the provision of welfare subsidies and other taxpayer-supported benefits to illegal aliens, and reject the practice of bestowing U.S. citizenship on children born to illegal alien parents while in this country.
We oppose any extension of amnesty to illegal aliens. We call for the use of U.S. troops to protect the states against invasion.
We oppose bilingual ballots. We insist that those who wish to take part in the electoral process and governance of this nation be required to read and comprehend basic English as a precondition of citizenship. We support English as the official language for all governmental business by the United States.
So, burn their flag and toss them a $5.
I like it that they burned it. Saves all that talking. Speaks loud and clear

Yup...crystal clear
I have a feeling this won't be the last incident. This pot's set to boil.
Yup, they are whupping 'em up on Spanish radio here in Los Angeles, I am sure. What is the threat about April 10?? Is that the day all the illegals will stay home? (oh waaahh). How about Cinco de Mayo? That ought to be fun this year.
