I guess everyone's heard the story by now. When I get to the studios I'm sure that Web Guy will tell me we've had hundreds of emails on the subject. It seems that Georgia's embarrassment, Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, has slugged, or slapped, or punched, or hit ... whatever ... a capitol hill police officer. Here is the way it was reported to have happened. Cynthia is entering one of the House office buildings. It wasn't the building in which her office is located. She was not wearing the lapel pin that identifies her as a member of congress. She exercises her privilege of walking around the metal detectors. The police officer doesn't recognize her and goes after her. That's his job. When he (chose one) (a) place his hand on her shoulder; or (b) grabbed her arm, she turned around and (a) hit, (b) punched (c) slapped him in his (a) face (b) chest with (a) her open hand (b) her fist (c) her cell phone.

And the cop was supposed to see a woman who looks like that, dressed in sweats, and recognize her as a U.S. representative? She looks like half the crackheads in the Capitol Hill area.

This is not racist. People judge us by the way we're dressed and groomed. A homely-looking white woman who came into the Longworth Building wearing sweats, no makeup or jewelry, with her hair messed up, would have had a hard time from the cops too.

A "Republican" radio host in Philadelphia spent time talking and taking calls about Scalia's gesture and its meaning. Not a word (that I heard) about McKinney assaulting someone at the Capital.
