"Before too long, watch for her to speak about how well she was treated and how much she admires them and their cause."

Already doing that.

I am wondering about that Christian Science group also, they seemed a little too prepared this morning. Are they same as scientiogist? Are they a cult?

No. Yes.

News media coverage has been so deplorable this morning you'd think we should send the kidnappers a bouquet of flowers and a box of candy.

I am interested in learning what the US military has to say about this rescue.

Only among the American Left can you be kidnapped, forced at gunpoint to beg in tears on international TV, held for 3 months by force, and then say your captors "treated you well".

I think her statement is a relative one. I assume by it that she was not beaten or raped. And she was released in one piece, an event that does not always happen there. That, along with tendency toward Stockholm Syndrome, would probably tend to encourage me to say something similar in a like situation.

Already doing that.

That's certainly correct. It was the first thing to come to my mind after I heard about her release (about 6:30AM Eastern).

From what I heard early this morning, this was not a rescue. She was released. I'm cubie-bound, so there may have been more info since I heard that.

Why is she still wearing that potato sack on her head?

If she was "involuntarily" kidnapped, then I am the King of Spain.

... and I'm the Emperor of Ohio. The only appropriate way to view the Jill Carroll episode is with extreme cynicism. Leftists who collaborate with terrorists in order to get them funding via fake ransom ought to be hanging from a rope. From the moment the alleged hostage-takers failed to come through with their initial threat to kill her, there was no reason to believe she was not in full cooperation with them. The translator's death doesn't matter - life has no value in Islam.

I don't know. I know sometimes they look at women as trash, but other times I think they can be quite chivalrous, particularly since she was covered, so as not to arouse them.

Christian Scientists are definitely NOT the same as Scientologists, but they are rather weird. They are the ones who occasionally make the news when one of them won't let their kid get cancer treatment because they think if prayer won't cure it, God wants to bring them home. Some would call them a cult.

I also believe they got the ransom.

With more info, I believe my cynicism was amply justified. BTW, she didn't go to Iraq as a reporter; she had worked as a reporter for a different paper earlier when she was just out of school, got laid off, and then went to Iraq with some kind of nebulous (and probably terrorist supporting) non-profit. Then she started filing stories for the Monitor.

She took to wearing the Islamic get-up long before she was "kidnapped" and obviously does not intend to change it now that she has been released. In fact, I noticed that they had given her a festive new pastel-colored outfit. Another sign of their incredible thoughtfulness.

She had the Stockholm syndrome before she was kidnapped.

Why didn't she take that stupid scarf off the second she was "released"?

Fox seems to be obsessed on this story.

Reporters obsessing about reporters reeks of smugness and elitism.

Something smells about this whole story.
