"Hey, I remember that! {listening on the radio}
I think he got up and pitched to another batter, went down again, then they finally figured out it was serious!"
Exactly.
I can still remember hearing the crowd groan when he went down that second time. Of course he came back to be the World Series MVP that year, and in 1968 the Cy Young award winner in a historic season so remarkably dominant that the pitching mound had to be lowered the next year.
Bob Gibson understood that when you go to war, you go to win.

Sorry to have missed you last night.
I had a date...
My favorite Italian restaurant has gone Soprano's...
At least the food is still good.
Decor leaves something to be desired.

I'm sure no one is really interested, but this use to be one of my fav players
![](http://www.baseballhalloffame.org/hofers_and_honorees/hofer_bios/images/Robinson_Brooks_3.jpg)
Brooks Calbert Robinson (The Human Vacuum Cleaner)
Played For: Baltimore Orioles (1955-1977)
Induction Information: Elected to Hall of Fame by Baseball Writers in 1983, Player 344 votes on 374 ballots 91.98%
The other would be Cal Ripken of course
I also liked that other Robinson dude even though he did not play for Baltimore.
