Boehner hints a back down on 'amnesty'
The Washington Times ^ | March 29, 2006 | Charles hurt

Posted on 03/29/2006 7:15:28 AM PST by surely_you_jest

House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

Only rabidly IGNORANT fools will criticize the sensible action that the President and Congress are putting into place.

Could you elaborate on exactly what it is that you believe they are putting into place?

That may be so.

However, the problem is that the vast majority bring along a significant minority that exploits our generous welfare state.

This situation is just going to be exacerbated by this incomprehensibly shortsighted amnesty proposal, if it is ultimately enacted.

You can not have a cradle-to-grave welfare state-or even a modest, but growing safety net-while also importing millions upon millions of low-skilled, uneducated laborers that will pay less in taxes than the people who are retiring and drawing down Social Security and Medicare.

Something has got to give.

Actually, I believe it's been an issue since 9/11. You do remember that, correct?

"There will no mass deportation"

There won't need to be if we deny illegals amnesty and hunt down employers. If the illegals can find no work, the problem will take care of itself.

Yeah, about what I expected. You have nothing but your insults to contribute. Must be a sad life you lead if this is the way you get your kicks.

They are Mexicans. They go back to see their country, their grand parents, for a nieces' quinciera, maybe to see their own family, for many many reasons.

"Yeah, you are calling people who come to the US seeking a better life "criminals"

If they broke the law in coming here, and in continuing to reside here, no other word applies, as far as their status under the law. You're dragging emotion and sentiment into the equation (like a Democrat, I might add), and are thoroughly confused as a result.

that guest worker program will be devasating to the US middle class - it means that legitimate businesses will be able to hire from those pools - walmart, home depot - they are all salivating at the chance to lower their wage footprint even further.

Legitimate businesses are already doing that.

I don't see that a guest worker program is any different from what we have now, except that some form of registration is involved.

Excellent post!

" [T]he underground economy is undermining the effectiveness of the Internal Revenue Service, which is highly dependent on employees' withholding taxes. If the IRS could collect all the taxes it says that it is owed from the underground economy in a given year, then the current budget deficit would disappear overnight. And if the IRS could collect these taxes every year, then the nation would have surpluses as far as the eye can see.

The IRS has estimated that its tax gap -- the estimated amount of taxes owed minus the amount collected -- is around $311 billion in any given year. The agency will produce a new estimate in 2005, and it could be as high as $400 billion, says former IRS Commissioner Donald Alexander."

That same Federal Government to strike Americans with impunity, freezing accounts and disrupting lives of Americans while allowing foreigners to trample our nation and take it over.

Disgusting. Defund the FedGov now.

I did email my congress critters today and a couple of other selected ones and asked them, based on that picture from Whittier, CA of of our flag flying inverted under the Mexican rag, just who the hell they think they are representing.

Hunt down the employers. Shut off the welfare/school/social programs tax money being pissed away on them.

They'll deport themselves.

Not my experience. A cook I know left and will be back in about four months. He doesn't use coyotes. Many don't.

Will you just STFU already?!

The only mewling, petulant little asshat on this thread is you.

No one needs a second opinion to verify the fact that you're a blithering idiot.

That would be like calling into the Hayden Planetarium in order to find out whether or not there was a solar eclipse yesterday.
