is it better to email
Currently an Email gets through much faster. They are still(justifiably so) scrutinizing snail mail very carefully before it is delivered. If you email though, be SURE you put you name, address, and phone number in the email.
I suggest an email that is formatted like a formal letter.

The Senators rarely read anything including email. They have flunkies that do that, but your view is cataloged and you will receive a letter in response. Depending on your Senator, it may actually be relative to the issue you have written about.
There are a few "catch phrases" you will learn about. My favorite is "Thank you for your letter, I will keep you views in mind when considering this issue." What that means politely is "Kiss off, I have made up my mind and I don't really care what you think."
You may have a really honest Senator. Mr. Shelby (from Alabama) seems to be one. He is the only one of my representatives that I have ever gotten a response from that stated that he disagreed with me and then presented his case as to why he disagreed. You have to respect that; at least I do.
From time to time you may hit a nerve. I did several years ago and actually go a call from Jeff Sessions at home. I was stunned. We still disagreed, and I always wondered if I'm now on a list of some kind.
Anyway, have fun and write frequently. Always be respectful even when you don't feel they deserve it. If you are not, they just blow you off and put you in the "nut job" file.

Cordially,
GE

Now comes "Turban Durban"

One of the most disgusting people in Washington.

The only reason I am watching this bilge is trying to be an informed voter.
Sometimes being a responsible citizen can be painful.

Like today!

This is an outrage.

It is unbelievable that these mobs of illegals have the politicians cowering. That says how little respect those politicians have for the oath of office they took -- the oath about 'protect and defend The Constitution of the United States of America'.

Hordes of illegals (invaders) marching, demanding rights, waving the Mexican flag --- in the streets of America.

[Imagine the numbers of arrests if thousands of illegals marched and flew their home country flags in Mexico City. You can bet the Federales would put an end to it, immediately.]

And where is our leader while these hordes of illegals are mass marching under a foreign flag in American streets? He is in Mexico visiting Presidente Fox.

Talk radio half-hour news is saying Frist plans to present his version an immigration bill today. It has NO amnesty provision.

So, do they really read faxes or is it better to email, or what? Anyone know?

My senator (McConnell) will answer my emails with snail mail, although it normally takes a long time. But he does listen to what I have to say, apparently.

Thanks for the update.
I don't trust Sessions much when it come to limiting Federal police power, but he seems pretty good on most other things. He was our state AG before he won his Senate seat.

I'm sure this is true for many of our taxpayer-funded officials. But just in case they tabulate by subject line, it's best to say which side you are on right in that line.

In a way, I'm sort of jealous of the many people in this country who do not wish to be informed by following todays many critical issues...It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination listening to these, I don't know what to call them(senators)...

Thanks - I never emailed before 911 for just that reason but mine seem to operate differently since 911.
I always get some kind of response and Senator Shelby actually prefers email (according to his web page anyway) because snail mail takes so long to get through.

Did Tom Harkin just say he met with undocumented immigrants? Didn't his Senate oath say something about upholding the laws and the constitution of the United States? Wouldn't it have been his responsibility as an officer of the U.S. Senate to report the undocumented immigrants?

Which Senate bill on immigration has been called to the floor for debate today? The one out of the Judiciary Committee.. the House version or Frist's version?

Proposed new immigration thread RULE: BP meds ought to be handed out by the original poster of these threads. Mine spikes every time I see that Mexican flag over the US upside down flag. 'ell, every time I think about that picture. If that one particular act doesn't bring the fence sitters off, nothing will. It symbolizes more than anything else what is going on. I have tried to avoid the immigration threads because there are so many different aspects of the subject - it was best to just read and try to determine in my own mind what the best route was for this enormous problem. But what I observed last weekend pretty much tipped the scales.

Attention:

The American Dream is over.

The Mexican/American nightmare has arrived.

I think Fox has got that wrong. From what I have read, Frist has allowed the bill out of Judiciary to replace his.

***...that and see our flag burned...***

I have to say that when I saw that video of some guy setting our flag on fire and the blowback from it catching him on fire - I felt a certain amount of satisfaction.
