He was a great guy. Very approachable. His wife of 54 years preceded him in death March 7, this year.
A sad day for DS fans everywhere....

Thanks for the ping, it was so thoughtful of you. Mr.FF will be upset I'm sure. Must have just happened, I guess.

I was thinking, Herman Wouk? For others, it Dan Rivers who passed away. My condolences go out to his family.

I never mentioned it, but my sister and I were HUGE DS fans. Neither of us could stand the usual soap fare, but we were completely taken by this series.

How many of you ran home after school to see this every afternoon?
Never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Curtis personally, but did attend a live interview with of most of the DS cast in LA a few years ago. He seemed like a good man.

RIP, DC. Thanks for the great reads. Winds of War and War and Remembrance were outstanding works, and the Caine Mutiny a classic.

Hmmm. First Darrin McGavin, then, just a couple of weeks later, Dan Curtis. What dark truth did "The Night Stalker" reveal? And who is killing it's creators and cleverly making it looking like natural causes?

My wife and I were there with you.
Sorry for my lousy posting skills, but with a notebook, it's tougher.

I've got to tell you this funny story my aunt told me. When Dark Shadows was in its heyday, her kids watched it every day. The youngest, Robby, was about 8, and would sit with his hands over his eyes, watching. She noticed a strange smell in Robby's room, looked for it for a couple of months, and it kept getting stronger. She finally traced it to his bed, lifted up the mattress and found several heads of garlic Robby had put there to scare off the vampires. They still tease him about this, all these years later!
To: Bahbah
I was too! One of my highschool best friends was extremely into DS and she got me hooked. I'm still not sure if I should forgive her! lol
