These photos were taken at Ground Zero, the World Trade Center site in New York, on September 13, 2001.
They were taken by someone named "Ed" who was allowed into the area by a member of the emergency response crew, at a time when all civilians -- including most journalists -- were forbidden to enter the area. As a result, these photos are just about the only close-ups ever taken of the World Trade Center site so soon after the 9/11 attacks.

The reason the amnesia is setting in is because this "Pearl Harbor" hasn't been followed up with a mass casualty war. Tertullian said, "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church" (paraphrased). The blood of these martyrs is the seed of a continuing democracy. However, I believe there will need to be additional bloodshed before the people stand up to fight for that democracy.
Thank you very much for your kind words. I pray every day for all of those who still suffer.
Thanks for the post.
Thanks for the ping.

Never forget...
I think as my personal 5th 911 anniversary memorial, I will work on getting the images of that day to as many people as I possibly can.
Never forget.
Very nice!

Thanks for posting these.
This morning my idiot-lib sister remarked how we might've been better off with Gore as president...Bush has gotten us into another Vietnam. I had to resist the urge to smack her.

My oldest was in one of those, on the east. He was knocked out of his chair when the first plane hit. He called me on his cell from street level and was describing the scene when the second one hit. He was standing directly under the ball of flame that punched through the east side of 2WTC. I was watching live coverage, saw the explosion, knew where he was standing (I was in almost the exact spot in 1993). He dropped his phone and ran. It was three hours before I heard from him again.
