Sen. Breaux dismisses rumors he will run
Former U.S. Sen. John Breaux said rumors that hes eyeing a run for governor are just that rumors and nothing more.
I am not running for governor right now, and I have no plans of running for governor in the future, Breaux said during a meeting Friday with reporters and editors at The Advocate.
Commissioner of Agriculture Bob Odom has talked up the possibility of Breaux making a bid for governor next year, a slap at Breauxs fellow Democrat, Blanco.
I am not raising money for it, Breaux said.

Breaux is not going to run and he never was even thinking about it. He couldn't stand the pay cut...
Breaux's being a large threat to Jindal was overblown. Polling data indicated he was not in any position to defeat Jindal for Governor... and as was stated, why would he want to take the pay cut ?
Forgive my ignorance here but Jindahl was the candidate against Blanco before wasnt he?
Lot of ugly racism involved in the campaign too. After all, he's from India. He cleaned up some health care scams too if I remember correctly and that just frosted the cheaters.
= I'm making a lot of money doing what I'm doing.
thanks for the info
if he lost to el blanco due to race (lame) would he be a weaker candidate than another Republican or is buyers regret going to come into play here you think?
Oh he is going to win this time. People KNOW that Blanco is an incompetent witch. That she was corrupt didn't seem to bother them before but now it's a different story.
Hey, godd for him. At least he had the stones to get out of government. I think he was a pretty decent Dem.
That's good John because you aint winning either.
His parents are from India, Bobby was born in Baton Rouge, so he is 100% American.
Louisiana being what it is tho, I am not surprised that there was agitation against his ethnicity.
No, you were correct in stating that Blanco's campaign was most assuredly racist, and the national media all but ignored that. If Blanco had been a Republican and ran a campaign like that (making a strong appeal to the either slightly or overtly rural redneck vote, which provided the margin of victory, as Jindal carried the more upscale and urban areas, except Orleans Parish -- although he managed to get 32% of the vote there, 10% higher than Dubya would get a year later), we'd have never heard the end of it. I mean, really, please tell me where her candidacy was ostensibly much different than David Duke's '91 campaign ? I sure couldn't detect a difference (aside from the lack of media outrage).
Not so fast, how do you now if a politician IS running for governor? When he says he is NOT running for governor!
