That being noted, one wishes Giovanardi had thought twice before raising the Nazi specter. Partly, this is because nothing we are talking about today matches the scope or magnitude of Nazi crimes. Not yet, but it is coming.

Awww...are they upset because someone voiced someone opposition and dared to put them in their place?

Dutch doctors are motivated by compassion whereas the Germans' were motivated by the bigotry of racial hygiene If you read the rest of the article, it does a good job of comparing the Dutch and the Nazis -- even to the point of their "protocols" to ensure only specific babies are euthanized.
Were the Nazis motivated purely by eugenics? I don't think so -- I think they also figured into their twisted calculations the desperately low resources the Germans had thanks to the reparations imposed by the Treaty of Versailles, and the incredible inflation that ravaged their economy. Their killing program had (what they saw as) the practical side of not expending resources keeping someone alive who would not contribute to the "Reich."
As far as comparing the Dutch to Nazis, I realize that a lot of people like to toss around the "Nazi" tag for effect, and this doesn't seem like the right place for it. But on the other hand, the Holocaust didn't flip on like a light switch. People didn't wake up one morning to newspaper and radio announcements by the German government that, "Oh, by the way, the new program of exterminating 11 million people is scheduled to start next week. Stand by for updates."
Maybe the Dutch should just be called, "Liberals." It seems to fit better.

"Those who do not remember history are doomed to repeat its failures."
In Memory and Identity: Conversations Between Millenniums Pope John Paul calls abortion a legal extermination and compares its institution with the German laws, which declared the Jews non-persons and allowed them to be murdered by the state. He wrote, It was a legally elected parliament which allowed for the election of Hitler in Germany in the 1930s.
John Paul wrote that abortion and legalized genocide are both the result of people usurping the law of God in the name of democracy. We have to question the legal regulations that have been decided in the parliaments of present-day democracies.
The most direct association which comes to mind is the abortion laws. Parliaments which create and promulgate such laws must be aware that they are transgressing their powers and remain in open conflict with the law of God and the law of nature.
In 2003, Rabbi Yehuda Levin wrote about a poster he saw in New York city that declared, STOP The Silent Holocaust 2,000,000 children destroyed by abortion in Israel. The poster is part of a campaign sponsored by a Jewish/Israeli group, EFRAT-C.R.I.B, dedicated to stopping abortion in Israel. Source:

Partly, this is because nothing we are talking about today matches the scope or magnitude of Nazi crimes. No, actually we 'modern folk' have gone way beyond Hilter, now accounting for the 'euthanizing' of more than 44 million in America alone, in the name of 'a woman's right to choose' to euthanize the alive unborn for reasons 'so enlightened' as her desire to finish college without a burden of the child, or a cleft pallate is a deformity. The Dutch are merely graduating to the next level in the descent of humanity. We are not far behind them and the democrap party will see to it that we catch up quickly just as soon as they are back into power.
