Free Los Angeles, Go Fix Mexico
Think and Ask ^

Southern Californians protest nothing...usually. The lifestyle is as wide-open and apathetic as its sprawl of homes from the Mexican border north into Ventura County. I'm a native Angeleno, which means I was born in Los Angeles -- East Los Angeles to be exact, so don't bull me about being rooted somewhere else.
...
There are two main reasons I left Los Angeles in 1991: Rampant crime and the influx of illegal aliens from Mexico -- and those two reasons are connected statistics show. Now, on 25 March 2006, the illegal aliens took their stomp to the streets of Los Angeles with what seems to be a clear message: "We are here, we are illegal, and proud to be Mexican."
Anyone who disagrees is called a racist.

That's fascinating. I guess those claims were negotiated with Spain, which in turn got Florida free of interference?

The good citizens of the United States of America with the help of the patriotic media will be in Crawford Texas to lawfully and peacefully demonstrate against George W. Bush's lack of enforcement of immigration law. For calling the Minutemen and other border watchers "vigilantes", for not directing ICE to round up illegal aliens in our cities, for willfully failing to put our miltary on the border, For being a Mexican president and the best friend an illegal alien can have, for putting American citizens last. We, the American people will be in Crawford Texas May 6 2006 , for a reckoning. Join us! God Bless America.

Yep. And as long as we're both dreaming, I'd like a candy-apple red `88 Buick T-Type with baer brakes and governor-free chipset.

Sixty percent of the county's uninsured patients are not U.S. citizens. and more than half are here illegally. The same has happened in south Texas except we get part of the $1 billion from the medicare bill as we are considered border hospitals. Bush snuck this through the Medicare bill at 4AM. IIRC, it only passed by on vote. Had more Texas hospitals closed, maybe some of this mess could have been averted.
The best health care system the world has ever known is being downgraded to socialized medicine because of illegal aliens.

"No one likes being called a racist."
I believe everyone is a racist to some degree. I know I am more racist now, than at any point in my long life. The terrorists and the illegals set the parameters by their actions.

I honestly think that I am NOT racist. I don't care if you're black, white, yellow, green or blue, if you enter my country legally and can do the job you claimed, you're in. Otherwise, go pound sand. The same goes for LEGITIMATE refugee claimants.
However, I AM opposed to those who sneak in, lie about their qualifications, and otherwise break the rules.
Racist? NFL! Realist? Pretty close.

John, I'm sorry you had to be called names by FReepers. The OBL around FR have called me racist many times, but I just consider the source. They're probably from Mexico themselves. LOL IF we're racist then they are CRIMINALS for taking the side of criminals. Those who support crime are just as guilty as those who commit the actual crime. They just can't understand that it's about the LAWS that illegals have broken getting here, and now it's the pushy attitude like illegals own America that has made me so angry. Who I'm the most angry at is President Bush and the OTHER traitors in Congress who have sold out America to the big corporate donors!! IF I had Impeachment forms in front of me right now, I'd sign them!!

This is the group that Campaign Finance Reform should be targeting.

And the sad thing about it is, if these illegals took over America like they deam of doing, they'd turn it into another third-world poverty-stricken sh*thole like Mexico.

Very good essay. Don't worry about being called a racist. It just means that you won the argument.

Ok....so if they want us to move back to Europe, can we take all of our technology and money with us?
To: Bella_Bru
Amen. I have a proposal for these third world dirtbags...we burn everything in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas right to the ground. Then the illegals can rebuild everything, using that state of the art Mexican technology that has made them the envy of the entire world. Deal?

The deal with Spain was they were an American ally during the War for Independence with the Brits. The claims were not asserted. Eventually the Buel family (into everything in those days, and more like an international cartel than a mere family) managed to get Florida ceded to the US.
I believe you were referring to the US agreeing (in 1819) to not press any claims in Texas against Spain. And, as it turns out, the US never pressed any claims in Texas against Spain.
We also have to note that Napoleon had sold all French claims in the region (see Louisiana Purchase), but he was able to do that because he'd taken Spain in war.
As far as I know the demarcation line between Louisiana and California was never established by France and Spain.
In any case, the pre-existing American claims (formerly Georgia and N&S Carolina claims, and those, in turn, based on the original Caroline claims when Caroline was the Spanish name for the American SE) were never subjected to challenge by Spain.
The US simply never pursued them until a 4th party, Mexico, sought to claim California.
It's noteworthy that Mexico had "taken" properties owned in California by the RC church, but the first action taken by the US on formally absorbing CA was to RECOGNIZE THE RC PROPERTY RIGHTS and to restore everything just as it had been when Spain, the American ally, had administered the region.
I think it's pretty clear that Mexico's claims to California were tenuous at best, and when it comes to the paper-trail, non-existent.
The only "legitimate" claim Mexico might pursue is one established by the Aztecs who sent in an expedition to the Anasazi to terrorize them, eat them in the name of their god, and steal their stuff.

BTW, compared to the real third-world, Mexico is very nice ~ a veritable heavenly city shining on a hill.
That's why they have such an abusive immigration policy themselves.
