Maryland Democrats are attempting to overthrow the State Constitution of Maryland.

How?

By ignoring Article II, SEC. 13. which states:

All civil officers nominated by the Governor and subject to confirmation by the Senate, shall be nominated to the Senate within forty days from the commencement of each regular session of the Legislature; and their term of office, except in cases otherwise provided for in this Constitution, shall commence on the first Monday of May next ensuing their appointment, and continue for two years (unless removed from office), and until their successors, respectively, qualify according to law (amended by Chapter 99, Acts of 1956, ratified Nov. 6, 1956; Chapter 161, Acts of 1964, ratified Nov. 3, 1964; Chapter 576, Acts of 1970, ratified Nov. 3, 1970).

The Democrats, in a partisan match between the Senate Leader and the Governor wants to ensure shorten the constitutionally directed appointment period from 2 years to whatever the democrats want it to be.

The Maryland Senate passed legislation Friday that would give Democrats in the Legislature more control over the governor's Cabinet appointments, a move that Republican lawmakers have called a "mean-spirited vendetta" aimed at ousting one of Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich's Cabinet secretaries.

The bill, which passed on a 29-18 roll-call vote, would require any governor elected to a second term to resubmit Cabinet secretaries to the Senate for approval. If passed by the House of Delegates in its current form, the bill would apply to Ehrlich's Cabinet, should he be re-elected in November.

"If a Cabinet secretary is not responsive to the needs of the citizens of Maryland, there needs to be a check and balance," Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr., D-Southern Maryland, said in justifying his bill.

But throughout a week of partisan bickering and political maneuvering, Republican senators argued that the real intent of the bill is to remove Secretary of Transportation Robert L. Flanagan from his post. Flanagan has recently fallen out of favor with Democratic lawmakers for failing to hand out $28.5 million in highway grants to counties and municipalities around the state.

Note to Senator Miller: Your bill is totally unconstitutional, with the exception of Secretary of state, which has a constitutional term limit, if an apointee has served less then 2 years at the time of re-election, your bill would create a constitution crisis because it is saying that a law of the state over-rides the constitution of the state. This is a catch-22 as it is the State Constitution that gives laws powers, and no law can override the state constitution.

Senator Miller, Your bill is an act of treason against the Constitution of Maryland, and you have violated your oath of office to protect and defend that state constitution. You need to resign immediately for your attempt to overthrow the Constitution of Maryland!

If the Democrat party wants to change the constitution, then they NEED to submit a constitutional amendment and let the PEOPLE decide what is best for the state!

Just like in NC. The governor is elected from the other party (GOP), and they suddenly decide to take away his veto power. Only in this case apparently, they feel no need to change the constitution. Nothing worse than to have Democrats controlling your state for a century or more.
