I have sent the following two letters, one to my senators, and the other to the President regrding illegal immigration and the critical need to face up to it directly, stop the politics, and address the issue from a standpoint of American national security. I urge everyone to letters of their own:
TO MY SENATORS:
Senators Mike Crapo and Larry CraigAND TO THE PRESIDENT:
Washington, DC
RE: Immigration legislation
Dear Senators Crapo and Craig,
I'm writing to ask you to oppose any immigration bill that includes any form of guest worker, or any other amnesty-like provision that rewards those who have broken our laws in getting into this country. Also, in the strongest terms possible, I urge you to allow a vote on the Sensenbrenner immigration bill that has already passed the House of Representatives.
Until the federal government is willing to strongly enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books, Americans will be highly skeptical of any additional promises to enforce a new and deeply flawed approach. If recent history is an accurate guide, this so-called guest worker notion would only encourage a new wave of illegal aliens and make America 's uncontrolled and unacceptable immigration debacle even worse than it is now.
Such legislation is a bad idea not only because it creates a transparent path to amnesty, but also because it would reduce work opportunities, depress wages, and lower worker protection for Americans. Further, it would be impossible to administer and even more unlikely to be enforced.
In my estimation, on of the most important job you have to do right now is to SECURE OUR BORDER against illegal immigration. Like millions of Americans, I'm sick and tired of the "inside the beltway" politics on this issue; I will listen to no more excuses or sophistry regarding this issue. Senator, we need you and your collegues to pass true border security legislation, such as the Sensenbrenner bill already passed by the House.
Please, oppose any immigration bill that includes any guest worker amnesty-like provisions. I will be watching your vote on this issue very closely and urging everyone I know to do the same. As with abortion, this issue is a show stopper for me. Anyone not addressing this issue directly, and in such a manner as to stop the flood, support our laws, and end this invasion will simply not get my vote.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Jeff Head

RE: Immigration legislation
Dear President Bush,
I'm writing to let you know that I have asked both of my senators here in Idaho, (Senator's Craig and Capo) to oppose any immigration bill that includes any form of guest worker, or any other amnesty-like provision that rewards those who have broken our laws in getting into this country. Also, in the strongest terms possible, I have urged them to allow a vote on the Sensenbrenner immigration bill that has already passed the House of Representatives.
In my estimation, and with all due respect Mr. President, one of the most important job you have to do right now is to SECURE OUR BORDER against illegal immigration. Like millions of Americans, I'm sick and tired of the "inside the beltway" politics on this issue; I will listen to no more excuses or sophistry regarding it. Mr. President, we need you to push for and help pass true border security legislation, such as the Sensenbrenner bill already passed by the House.
Please, push forward legislation that does not include any amnesty-like provisions, such as the Sensenbrenner bill. I will be watching my senators vote on this issue very closely and urging everyone I know to do the same. As with abortion, this issue is a show stopper for me. Anyone not addressing this issue directly, and in such a manner as to stop the flood, support our laws, and end this invasion will simply not get my support or vote any longer.
Thank you for your time and attention, Mr. President, and God bless and keep you...and guide you...as you deal with the critical issues facing our nation along with the war we are engaged in. In my estimation, this issue and the latter are directly linked and part and parcel of the same..
Sincerely,
Jeff Head

"In my estimation, on of the most"
Excellent, Jeff! Well done!!
Excellent, Jeff! Well done!!
Thanks...I saw trhat after it was posted and already sent. Oh well...I believe the message is still clear. Also, the word colleague was mispelled.
Thanks...they need to get millions of such letters.
For people here legally now, yes. But in this situation I've reached the end of my patience with this ethnic segment of immigration. I'm sorry, but I just can't come up with a shred of tolerance after seeing what they've done to California. I had reached that point long before this "outburst." In San Jose they have nightly outbursts of "Mexican Pride," with low-riders packed with flag-waving foreigners in down town. You can find Mexican flags in storefronts, flying from balconies, and on the backs of cars, and tattooed to the populace. I've just had enough, Jeff.

That's the issue. The illegals, those who are their descendants who have a foundation resting upon the opposite of those things I have mentioned...that is what needs to be corrected. Those coming here wanting to adopt and live those ideals will serve more to correct this problem than worsen it.
And even if some of them are entirely of Mayan descent; well their ancestors wouldn't be from North America now would they?
I'm past tired of the racist perspective of these idiots.
They should first go home and then come in through the program we establishj once the controls are in place. Otherwise, we will be burdening an already broken system with more influx and more paperwork.
Jeff, your dreams will never happen. Why? Because we are asking many people who have criminal records to register. As soon as they put their fingerprints in the sytem they would be arrested or the other option refused permission to enter the US.
Many of the wetbacks who have been here for uears are still living under the table because of this type of problems.
I can imagine an immigration questionaire asking "How many other people live in your home? What are their names?" That right there is enough to tell the illegals that they are being closely examined. They cannot tolerate that close of an examination without past arrests and current warrants coming to the surface.
:)
The man does not have a clue. We were a welcoming society for European immigrants, who shared certain common values with the original American stocks, when we had an open frontier and large uncrowded areas, even in the most settled States. Now it comes down to whether this fully peopled sub-continent is going to remain the homeland of the heirs of those who built it up, or be deluged with anyone who can get across the border, seeking to capitalize on what Americans have built.
As for those jobs we do not want to do? Isn't it time we redeveloped the mettle to take care of ourselves--to meet our own needs? What sort of an American future can we expect if we become increasingly dependent upon other peoples for basic chores?
We need men in office who identify with the interests of Americans, not those who seek to be all things to humanity at large.
I'm not sure it's the whole issue. We truly are an Anglo-Saxon culture. Nobody knows what it means for us to overwhelm our base culture with Asian, African, Mideastern, and Latin immigration. I think looking around at what we see all over this country, we have had enough immigration to last quite a while, especially from this particular ethnic group.
I'm sorry to be so blunt, but it's time to speak up about this before things go any further.
Understand what you are saying, but I see this as an ECONOMIC issue that has all but destroyed a decent living American wage for many industries. It is what I call the slave labor class of the 21st Century. They live outside the law and have little recourse for what their employers do to them.
Yes, there are a lot of downsides to what the elites are doing with this issue right now, but mostly none for them.
I think our best bet for getting something done is at the local level. If we could get 37 states to pass a law that stated that local officials would arrest illegals and the federal government had 5 days to collect them and move them out of the state or the state would begin charging $1,000 per day per illegal to the federal government, perhaps something would be done.
Well said, Mr. Ohioan.
But that is exactly the kind of scrutiny we MUST give them...and the sooner the better. If they will not willingly come in...then we have to have the will to do what it takes to find them and route them out.
The states must do this...the counties within states must do the same to the state level.
Here's an excerpt I included:
-------------------------------------------
Concern high over immigration The Washington Times | March 28, 2006 | Jennifer Harper
A sampling of polls reveals that most Americans are concerned about the financial impact of illegal immigration and fret over porous borders, lax enforcement and easygoing policies that could reward or encourage lawbreakers.
The concern cuts across demographics. A Quinnipiac University Polling Institute survey of 1,892 registered voters released March 3 found that 88 percent think illegal immigration is a serious problem; 83 percent of respondents identified as children or grandchildren of immigrants agreed. The margin of error was two percentage points.
In addition, 62 percent opposed measures that would make it easier for illegals to become citizens; 56 percent of the immigrant descendants agreed. Seventy-two percent did not favor allowing illegals to get driver's licenses; 66 percent of the immigrant descendants agreed.
